my opinion is CRAP:
ive a LF125-30 for about 5 months (since CBT) and while ill admit they sound nice and are reliable when they work, i think construction quality isnt exactly hunky dory.
soon as the bike was delivered (with 1 mile on it), it wouldnt start. turns out the factory supplied faulty wiring... that was just a fluke though. then a knock developed at 400 miles... now the chain loosens itsself every 50 miles, so i never go anywhere without my 2 spanners Very Happy oh, and the speedo overreads loads at higher speeds... apparantly i can do 80 in 4th gear, and 110 in 5th, yet escorts overtake me?
im probably the only one with this problem.
on a good note:
sounds lubly jubly for a 125, nice and quick off the mark and an OK top speed (80-90), looks arent bad, and they;re affordable!
rant over
anyone else have one of these? what do you have and how does it go?

It's a cheap chinese import. 'Nuff said, really.

They are all a much of a muchness. Nearly all of them share the same engine/carb components, especially the 125s. The Boatian, Yiying, Feiling and Lifan 125 sports scooters even share the same chassis and suspension. Only the plastic bits are different.

Makes it easier for getting spares though.

Not really. Derestricted CBR125s can easily manage 80. However I don't think they'd do much over 90 even if you really cained them. 25-30bhp 2stroke singles only manage about 100-110 flat out, and you certainly don't get that amount of power out of a 4-stroke single.

Thumbs Up

Out of interest, how do you derestrict a CBR 125?

My 4 stroke 250 topped out at about 90; I find it hard to believe a Chinese 125 can do it.

You can't derestrict a CBR125.

Mate if you said your lifan went 70 I'd call bullshit too.

CBR goes 80 because it's an updated engine (Doesn't use pushrods like the CG anymore) and it's got fairing.

sorry my bad. 'Derestrict' is the wrong word. What I meant was if you upped the performance, like changing the jets and fitting a better exhaust. Even then you'd only get 10-15% more out of it.

Fair enough - still think 90 out of a CBR 125 verges on the optimistic side though...

Yeah, I think you're prolly right. Depends on how much money you'd want to throw at it. But then, it's only a 125, so why bother? Save your money for your first big bike.

Very odd to see a kickstart on a sports-style bike.

Are those the tyres they came with? If so, ditch them and get some proper rubber.

*edit

and it's got rear drums. Not being rude, but maybe it's not meant to go that fast. You wouldn't be able to to stop it.

As an indication ... My son's bog-standard NSR125R will knock out 70mph on a still day with me on it (12st plus leathers = big aerodynamic brake) if I tuck down ... A few more miles on the clock will see that improve but not by much.

Bear in the mind the rule that the power needed squares with the double of the speed it will need about 20bhp to reach 85mph, even with the neat fairing. Without ... what, close on 25 - 30bhp? From a single cylinder 4 stroke ... Hmmm. it ain't gonna happen

to be honest you're a clown if you think you can decently stop a bike from speed with the rear brake. disk or drum.

it's just a 125 with the CG copy engine.
problem that i see is the awful looking kickstart Laughing

Then his bike is restricted or has a problem.

The NSR I had from a similar year would hit just over an indicated 100mph with my 14st on it (tucked down).

Matt: do you know if it has twin or single cylinders?

It can't... It's a Chinese CG engined bike! Get over it! Your speedo is crap, your mates speedo is crap.

Oh wait, it's got twin sports exhausts? Must do about 100 then :/

Surely if it's water-cooled it's not a cg based engine?

However, I do find it hard to believe it would do a real 80-90.
