Basically, if a part on the microfiche has two codes, what does this mean?

I've got a 94 cbr600f and bought a used 98 swingarm to put onto it, not realising that the bearings/internal construction were different.
What confuses me is that the pivot bolt on my 94's microfiche has two codes, one of them is the same as the 98's!? So I would assume that the bolt of the 94 could be used on the 98. The inner diameters of the bearings on the 98 are larger though so this would mean that the bolt would be thicker, no! Hope this makes sense!

Need some advice Confused

Might help if you could show us the fiche?

Looking at it, the newer one has been cost-engineered, maybe the fiche is showing the changeover year. If it's just a couple of bearings, you might find a bearing stockist can get you bearings with the correct Internal and external diameters to let you mix and match.

I've been looking for the standard bearings and have found the perfect size, in the U.S!! Rolling Eyes
Need to find the inner part for the needle roller bearing now. Do you think I could get away with leaving out the inner sleeve (collar) if all the bearings are correct? Is it just there for extra support?

Yep, if you look at the earlier fiche, it's not just the bolt but all the other gubbins as well that are duplicated - which basically means that was the changeover year and the factory probably didn't know what it was going to deliver to the dealers. If you ever try to keep a French car, this is something you become very familiar with.

I think that you're basically going to have to get hold of a set of internal gubbins to match the later swingarm. That sleeve, at a guess, is needed to hold the bearings perpendicular and keep them in place.

If you look at the first microfiche in the bike details it tells you whats going on..

CBR600F2 91-'94

And...

CBR600F3 95-96'

Theres 2 different part numbers listed as the microfiche covers 2 models.... yours must be a 91-94 model and the 95-96 model must have same swingarm as later 98 models hence the same part numbers...

IT DOES NOT MEAN THE LATE ARM WILL FIT THE EARLY MODEL!

I know what you are saying, it didn't really click that there were 2 models on the one microfiche! Rolling Eyes

I can't be arsed anymore and I've got a mate who has a spare f2 swingarm so hopefully I can get that off of him and stick the 98 back on ebay (with new bearings!) and not lose too much!

I did show willing tho................. Wink
