Grrrr they are so annoying (sorry anyone who has one...)

Since the kid a couple of houses up my road turned 16 he's had this bloody ped and now hes got a group of them that keep going round his house, two of them are luminous yellow and they all sound like shit whilst they race down the hill (at 30 haha) with their chins on the bars (why do they do that?? does it make them go faster????)

Does anyone else think they are bloody annoying?

Altho it was nice to see one had appropriate clothing with a decent bike jacket and trousers on etc..

I don't consider it annoying. In fact I find it quite funny seeing them all head down arse up trying to get a bit more speed out of their bikes. I was also a 'ped boy' once many years ago on my TS50ER doing exactly the same thing as they're doing now riding around in a big group causing no harm to anyone (but ourselves Razz ) Although it has to be said none of us could afford much more than a cheap helmet and gloves back then.

I also prefer to see young lads messing about on bikes than standing around vandalising things and harassing folk complaining they haven't anything to do so why not go and steal something or smash it up.

And don't forget, todays 'ped boys' could be tomorrows bikers. Wink

Has anybody else read this months superbike magazine?

If not there is a letter in it from a 16 year old with a ped, he was out riding when four bikes boxed him in pointing and laughing but then a copper had seen what had happened and pulled them over to tell them off!

Made me laugh! Laughing

problem is, you say they dont cause no harm to anyone, but thats wrong, most of them do. because most of them are 16 year olds and mummy and daddy have bought them a ped before they can get their Nova's when they turn 17.

Some of things ive seen, day in day out with these 16 year olds on peds (you can spot them from a mile of just by looking at them) are ridiculous, friday i saw some twats on scooters UNDERTAKING a car on a very busy stretch of road which isnt only wide enough for the 2 lanes!!!!! how dangerous is that?

Most of them are a pain in the arse. Some are okay admittedly.

I guess nobody did daft things when they were young then. Well I did and yes probably p****d some people off at one time or another (still do now on me bike I suppose) but at least I wasn't terrorising old people, setting things on fire and mugging someone for their b***dy mobile phone to feed a habit or buy the latest fashion.

I agree they're probably a bit dangerous too, but it was half the fun going flat out everywhere. Do you not remember how long it took to get to 40 once you'd backed off? I do and it was 16 years ago. I had great fun on peds with my mates. We were about 10 strong not including the other local villages, which really did cause a bit of havoc when we met up, seeing who was the quickest. Laughing

Peds are annoying, but some of them can do good tricks, and some of them do go onto be bikers etc. And as said above, is it actually hurting anyone if they want to ride around looking silly with thier chins on the bars etc? Laughing

Thread killer! Laughing

And Darryl, the peds doing wheelies etc are alot less dangerous than the bigger sports bikes etc IMO. Peds are small, slow and will be less trouble if it flips.

I did see a comical ped group yesterday. A group of about five lads on peds went past with a VFR behind doing his very best to ride that slowly, the front of his bike was going up and down as he rolled the throttle on, rolled it off.... etc etc.

Saw them pulled over a little further on congratulating each other on great riding, and as I was amused (though in the car) I had a grin.... I think they thought they'd pulled judging from what followed! Laughing

hmmm after skim reading read first 2 posts and last ones)

i was to starting on a ped. And no mummy and daddy didnt buy me it, (they dont buy me anything since i started part time work)

I was forced to work for it (and that was difficult on £3.40 an hour when i first started work) but what an acheivement it was for me when i brought it. and everyone else was still on the bus.
Or getting lifts.

i was never an idiot on it, i never cut people up, or ducked down like a rabid monkey.
I have seen many even when i was on my ped do this,

And never the less as one of the other members said todays ped riders might be tomorrows bikers /Me looks round at Goose, Mike and Dodd. I'm sure theres others)

I judge people by who they are not what they ride.
(unless your a hobbit)

been said so many times before and scoot pretty much covered it

some of us started on a ped, some of us were sensible and rode normally, still managed to enjoy ourselves, and some of us now ride real bikes...

wheres the problem? some are twats, but then so are lots of people who dont ride peds Smile

/me looks at bentleys drivers

Was funny last night. We were at a local bike club and a few scooter bois came in. They sat and had a pint 9Shandy i reckon) then buggered off Very Happy
They were most likely from the local Maccies where all the Nova-Bois meet up and look at the Impreza's Engine. Mmmm Spark Plugs.

Right well I have my little scooter, and I will soon (getting closer) be getting my bike. My mom and dad didn't buy it for me I had to myself and i don't go cutting people up or 'tuck in' to see how much faster my 100cc engine will go i ride with proper jacket helmet and gloves so were not all that bad!

There is no shame in tucking in behind the handlebars, it decreases wind resistance and does help get that extra 2 or 3MPH! Im sure you lot tuck in on your motorbikes when going for your top speed, the only difference is that you have a petrol tank to hug!

Admittedly gangs of scooter riders do tend to mess about (as do gangs of bikers in my opinion) it just doesn't look as good if your on a ped doing it.

My scooter was a stepping stone to bigger and faster things, it was good for what it was.

Are you prepared for the following rant?

Today, I was not having the best of days, to match my "worst week of my life", things can only possibly get worse.

So having just spent £30 on a new oil filter and oil to do an oil change on the bike (the gears are feeling dodgy, and I nearly dropped it trying to kick down the the gears, which it didn't incidentally). I returned to find that some bloomin' gimp on a ped had parked so close to the right hand side on my bike that not only could I not have gotten the bike out, but I think he/she actually scratched it too (though I can't proove it).

Anyways, I'm faffing about trying to secure this HUGE bottle of oil on the back of the dinky toy that is my bike and there's another annoying idiot of a ped rider waiting for my space. He sits there watching me trying to pick up and move the hairdryer away from my bike. Huffing and puffing I eventually shift the thing enough (it was chained up) to get my bike out.

Ahhhh, relief.

gimps.

[/rant]

Oh sorry - then on the way back I had to overtake some dotty old woman, and the oil came loose and hit me in the back as I went round a corner. Grrrrrr.

Bad day Sad

Apologies please. Feel free to ignore all of the above.

bella - if your oil is overfilled you gearchanges can be very heavy. Found that on the NC24 and the VX.

Push the ped over, works for me Very Happy
And tucking in on a bike doing 120 is cool. It's just not on a ped, EVER!
The main problem with peds and their riders is that they have no respect for anyone else on the road. I've been sat behind 3 abreast, taking up a whole lane and only doing 30. While pushing each other, texting and chatting between them selves.
But they soon get out your way when you squeeze in between 2 of them and rev the tits off a proper bike Very Happy
Oh, and they never nod, which just makes them losers.
