ive had both and they are both good bikes it just really counts on making sure that the one you get has at least some service history with it.

I actually preferred the zxr over the vfr, but i found that the zxr sufferred from quite a lot of vibrations when ragging the arse off it but the vfr felt stable no matter what.

From comparing owning the two id say the vfr felt stronger and felt like it could take any abuse i threw at and after having the engine out and fully serviced costing nearly £400 the vfr felt amazing.

But id still choose the zxr!

have you tried looking at the rvf, looks a lot more prettier than the vfr?

Also the zxr is cheaper to maintain than the vfr!

I've only owned a ZXR400 98 model. It's my first bike and I haven't had a problem in two years yet and 5K miles.
It immediately felt like a great bike to learn the skills on and I'm still having a lot of fun. It's designed for roundabouts!

I believe the Honda's are physically smaller than the ZXR, I'm 5:11 and it seems like a perfect fit if that matters.
As mentioned above with bikes that age it's all about the particular example you find and how it's been looked after.
I took a risk buying private(not knowing FA about what I was looking at) but the bike and owner seemed clean and genuine.

The RVF is the prettiest of the lot it must be said, but you'll be paying 'classic' prices for those from what I've seen when looking for my 400.
