On Wednesday one pulled out straight in front of me, in a ford ka, luckily it was dead on the road even though it was 9am and i managed to take a quick right turn into a side street entrance, nearly lost the bike as i felt it wobbling but i managed to keep it upright (not a clue how, guess its just instinct). Turning right might seem stupid now but it was my only option, that or go over the car.

I had my horn on so loud and not just constant it was on and off, when i did this she just stopped in the middle of the road. Everyone was looking at me in disgust at putting the horn on like it was my fault. I wish i had turned around and given her an earful but i just wanted to get to college and have a rant about it with my friends. If i see her again I'll definitely try and have a word.

Worst still was my driving instructors attitude when i told him later that day, i said that she should be done for dangerous driving or driving without due care and he couldn't see why, he's a nice guy but this pissed me off.

Its the first time someones pulled out on me so i guess I'm lucky since I've been riding for a year now.

You should've been expecting her to pull out.
This sort of thing is never clear cut though.

I'd been riding for 10 months when someone first pulled out on me (a woman, incidentally), though I didn't manage to skillfully dodge out of the way like you on that one, ended up being hit in the side.

Funnily enough, the woman that hit me IS being charged with driving without due care and attention, so your instructor is talking bollocks.

You can't compare your situations. There are too many factors at play to make a conscientious decision without having been there.

Bit of a difference between someone pulling out in front of you and pulling out into you, imo.

Dont get me started with car drivers lol, i will be here moaning about car drivers for weeks, There will be a list as long as santa letters.

* Mobile Phones
* Doing Hair
* Doing Make Up
* People not paying enough attention
* People who do not look properly
* People who doing a quick look to the left / right is good enough to see if anything is coming.
* Chavs in 1.2 Fiesta's done up yet so slow and think they can beat a cbr600 at the lights.
* Not Indicating
* Indicating but leaving it till the last min.... ( " when they are turning to the corner " )
* People who think just because i let the first person out in front of me the person behind that can just pull out and go also... W*ankers!! the list can go on. Thumbs Down

Anyone failing to give way at a junction/roundabout who causes an accident or other road users to swerve because of their actions should get done for driving without due care and attention.

I take it your driving instructor isn't a biker?

Why do you find the sex of the driver of any relivance? I have been twatted many times by cunts in cars both men and women and the injuries are just the same.
People never blame things on a "male driver" although they are a higher insurance risk as they are involved in more accidents than women.

The perceived wisdom from users on here in the insurance industry is that women actually have more accidents, but when men crash they do it in style, blowing up petrol stations and setting coachloads of SAGA holidayers on fire etc.

Just to balance the books a bloke pulled out straight in front of me from his drive yesterday, might've been interesting had I been 20 metres further up the road.

Judge people separately, not by their sex.

My first time having a car pull out on me was a guy with his kid and wife in an old Fiat Panda down at the end of my road. It was chucking it down with rain, I pulled my front brake and went into a tank slap (my first one of those too - two cherries in one!). I pulled to the side of the road without falling off, turned around to give the stern biker look that we all give in anger, and he shook his fist at me in the wanker fashion and drove off! Twat!

I should have been riding slower for the conditions and the space down my road (cars parked both sides) and have adapted my speed now for future issues of a similar nature.

Blonde woman driver trying to turn right across my lane at a right hand bend, positions her car in her lane in order to turn, but ends up about 2 feet into my lane. This forces me to do a quick left-right with a knee down in order to avoid a date with the crash barrier. Shocked

It goes without saying just assume everyone is going to do something stupid in front of you.....its not a gender issue, its an awareness issue that car only drivers tend to suffer from....they just dont see smaller vehicles....always ride with your light on .....and full beam if you are doing one! Very Happy

i'v often wondered why fit people who put their nice ample racks on display in the summer aren't forced into having insurance.
there were a couple of times last summer i nearly came a cropper (rear end shunt) as my attention was taken to the lovelies walking along the path.
that would have been great explaining to insurance company. SHE HAD NICE BAPS *air cupping to show*, I WAS STARING, I SMASH Smile

You were probably the only person that saw her pull out on you, you then showed everyone that you had gone around a corner without indicating but using your horn instead.

Expect the unexpected, position yourself in the road so that you could have gone around her/him(doesn't matter).

Forward observation would have given you big clues that she was about to pull out on you. Always try to make eye contact then you know they have seen you. No eye contact and they stand a BIG chance of pulling out the junction.

Popped into Sainsburys to grab some chewing gum with a friend of mine, to our disgust someone had parked right accross the bike park in their bloody fat ugly car. Ready to flip at whoever returned to their vehicle, I was robbed of my chance to do so when the owner happened to be a fine young woman.

She didn't half look embarressed when she came back from the cash machines to find two bikers frowning at her. Rolling Eyes

Well I got sliced up in the missus Pug 206 by an 8 seater mercedes taxi at 6am on the M4 with nothing else about. (OK except maybe a crane).

It was in the 50 limit roadworks and I was overtaking a huge Terranova mobile crane. I was in the middle lane doing 50 and the taxi just decides it wants my spot.

However the taxi was driven by a man.

I was feeling rather childish so I drove up next to him when the road went back to 70 and put my indicator on with my nose just ahead of him. Looked over at him a few times and I think he got the message!! Smile

I've had many incidents with cars, and have actually clipped one once, i didnt stand a chance, but managed to stay upright and sustained minimal damage to my leg and fairing.

But, i drive a car also, and i like to think i am aware of bikes all the time. A few days ago i very nearly took a guy out, it left me angry at the biker and scared the crap out of my wife. I have a shared track where my neighbours and i park our cars, this leads on to the main road out of my town, a 30mph limit that changes to 50mph about 300 yards up the road. Its a very busy road and people drive and ride far to fast for the location, so there are traffic calming measures, crappy flashy sign and bollards. As i pulled up to the end of the track intending to turn left, i looked left, i see a line of cars approaching (opposite side from me), i look right and its clear, i look left again, all good so off i go, wife screams, i slam on the brakes, mr biker decides to overtake the line of cars (between bollards) nearly ploughing straight into me as i pull out, so he is in a 30 limit, between traffic calming bollards, on the wrong side of the road doing silly speed. 300 yards up the road its dead straight country road, perfect for overtaking.
My point, i'm not a woman, its not always the cars fault. That biker is lucky my wife saw him, because he sure as hell didnt see me.
