OK, so I've had it a while now, but I've finally taken the time to get some pics. The drop happened only a few days after I bought it, but with a little bodging, it was back on the road in the afternoon. Only minor damage.

Agreed, single seat conversion for the win! Fairing damage looks repairable aswell.

Alternatively, if you don't wanna get rid of the seat.

Ditch the rail anyway, get the missus to hold her right hand on the strap (it's there to be used!) and her left hand around your waist but under your left arm and resting on the tank.

Or vice versa if she's left handed.
