So, do I chuck it all in and get a job as a courier? How much could I realisticly expect to earn?

I just want to ride my bike.....

So what is stopping you from riding other than yourself? 60 hours aint than many hours and you get weekends off. Courier work is just a job and riding in heavy city traffic is a ball ache. Ride for pleasure in your time off.

sounds like you need a hobby, id say something physical like martial arts, youl feel so much better about yourself, and although yes you are using time doing it, you will be more alert, and productive when you are effing around.

What Ariel said.

Or alternatively start looking for another job that may not pay as well but isn't so time-intensive?

The clocks go back this weekend so we get lighter nights again. Ride your bike after work, at weekends or even go to work on it!

Life is about so much more than sunny days, but truly what is the point if you can't make time for those sunny days?

And how old are you? Life for me was really crap when I was in my twenties with three young kids. I was lucky if I had twenty quid in my pocket for the month. I rode an uninsured, untaxed bike to get me to work on the night shift because it was cheaper than the bus and it was cheaper to pay the fines at 50 pence a week if I got caught.

I do understand what your saying but I wish I had the time then to be bored.

Just get on with it, weather can only get better over the next few months so take the bike to work if you can. Even two hours on a Saturday or Sunday is better than nothing.

can't take the bike to work, drive a big van full of tools, work is 150 miles away, hence going to work on monday and comming home on friday, stay over during the week, every other weekend I have 4 kids to entertain, have to (and want to) spend some time with Mrs stalk, have to do domestic stuff. My bikes are my hobby and as my job is fairly phisical I think some sort of martal arts would interfear with my smoking. Oh, and I'm 42.

Blimey mate you really are stuffed Laughing Laughing

There's not much difference in our age but I'm guessing I'm a bit better off since my 'kids' are 15, 17 and 18. Me and the missus go camping on the bike, two birds one stone plus its cheap. When the kids were younger we got the in laws to have them for an overnight to let us get away.

Doesn't sound like you have much choice job wise unless you sell the house.
