Hi,

erm, i want to edit my signature but what i want in it contains some HTML.

HTML is an option by the side of where you write the signature but its not one you can click on. Im assuming Korn has disabled it?

Any ways around this, as the end result is just a little banner 140X80 for my site.

perhaps this is one for the korn himself.

i know HTML tags begin and end with < ___ > </ ___ >

the tags on BCF start and end with [ ___ ] [/ ___ ]

if i changed the < >'s in the code i got, to [ ]'s, recon that would work?

Yes, HTML is disabled on the forum, but BBcode isn't. The guy probably used BBcode to link the banners to his site. So basically you just have to use the same principles you apply when writing a post.

I don't know about you, but I personally think that the banners that people have been recently attaching as their signature look utterly disgusting. Of course this is my opinion and I don't want to purposely impose it on anyone, but I'm guessing the reason Kornel didn't allow them before was for something alone the same lines. Alternatively it might of just been to save loading time.

I have to agree, I hate it. On some forums I've been to the signatures are about half a page long! and when you get a one word reply its stupid. Rolling Eyes

I mean I noticed when R6-Babe used my little man from my sig in heres and she had it on either side things where starting to get a little full. So much so I even considered removing him from mine.

I don't think anyone is getting their knickers in a twist. I personally couldn't care if someone does add a huge signature, I just think that it doesn't look very nice. End of story.

ok, i'm still none the wiser. so, how would i turn the script below into a format acceptable to BCF

As long as the signature isn't a badly compressed image file (takes ages to download) or physically large or just downright annoying then I don't see the problem. I think when forums disable avatars and signatures it looks very clinical, like a dentist's waiting room or something Confused

You can't do that in BB Code.

People reading this and not sure how to do this themselves, any ideas who would know how to get it sorted?

Basically, that's a huge wodge of html with tables, a form tag and seach box (an affilliate search for CD WOW) - without html being enabled in sigs, it will never work.

You could do a link to your 'recommendation of the day' with your affilliate ID in it... that would work with BB Code.

Why exactly do you need all the tables and forms?

A pretty similar result could be achieved if you just used url's with BB code.

The answer is.... You can't.

Search forms cannot be written in BBcode and were never meant to be. BBcode is only used within forum type environments to take over some of the functions of HTML. An example would be changing text size and colour, linking, quoting, etc. It's use is limited for the simple reason that if HTML were enabled, the whole forum would turn into a huge mess.

Java and HTML are disabled to stop people "hijacking" pages with thier signatures which wouldn't be very hard to do Smile Rolling Eyes (yes i know you weren't asking g Razz )

And any commision you do make off that little link should go to the person who paid for the website and bandwidth it first came off imo

And big massive signatures with hundreds of pictures of crap in them are annoying and lame

The links are there, people dont have to click on them.

People that do click on them, normaly do so for a reason, they are looking for something.

If it helps (them and me (which it hasn't yet)) then whats the harm?

I'll tell you it straight now... Unless you have a site that gets 10,000 unique hits a day, you're probably not going to make a penny. Well, at least not enough to qualify for a monthly £25 check.

Learn HTML or PHP or something. More interesting, more rewarding and doesn't annoy the hell out of all website visitors Smile

True, but wouldn't you prefer to do something that occupies your time yet earns you money? Either way, don't listen to me.

If you are happy doing it, then go ahead!
