Look at what it did to this car!
https://a550.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/9/l_c7414eab42a58cfc9feee27df189e9fd.jpg
My bike's got a few scratches on it, but everything seems ok.
Now the story: Riding with Dan22 and a mate, to Maidstone, waiting at traffic lights, and I slip the clutch, but finger slips off the clutch, and into the car's rear windscreen. Cheers to Dan22, I was a bit confused, but everyone's ok!
Good bye three years NCB though. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

And stupidest, I still cannot believe it happened, was I not paying enough attention to the clutch lever or what? So stupid it's unreal. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

Ouch....
Must have had a few revs on to climb that high....
I guess its just lucky that it was not a low slung sports car, or a soft top...
Main thing is you are OK and you have a great tale to tell, how you wrote a car off.... ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Bloody brilliant.
Is the SV completely rideable still or is there some damage?
I can't believe you have totalled the rear of that car! ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Have the headstock-welds dye-penetrant tested for cracks. Suzukis are prone to cracking at the headstock in front-end accidents. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Firstly glad everyone's fine, secondly they must've thought the boot had exploded, I'll wager it was quite noisy up front. So were you moving off or were you stationary? And as a serious question did you have the rear brake on? I just ask because I'd like to know from someone elses experience rather than my own. I've done it in the car, foot slipped off the clutch but not on the bike. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

I was just getting read to set off, clutch in, into gear, revs up, slip the clutch, creep forward and the the lever slipped. I don't think I was covering the rear brake, doubt that would have happened if I was, though my rear break is a little weak, so may well have been. Don't remember to well, was a bit shaken. ____________________ TheShaggyDA: I've got 3 or 4 pairs that predate my wife, so at least 11.5 years old. |

^ i was going to say it'd be worth checking, if you search back for andy's (?) crash the headstock was torn clean off, although a different thing entirely..
The way an engineering firm a mate worked for did it was a dye that reacted in ultra violet light, massively expensive stuff, they used to weigh it veyr carefully before/after it was used.. (so he couldn't steel me any ) this showed up any hairline fractures easily (mostly for roller-coaster track)
Glad you and everyone else involved are ok.. what did the victim have to say?
Interesting illustration of why they teach to cover the rear brake at lights e.t.c. and shows how very easy a mistake it is to make!
edit: looks like the stuff geri posted up ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
