first off, i just joined so ello everyone Very Happy

Hoping to get a 125 some time next year, wouldnt mind gettin something like a mx125 'cos i like the look of 'em and i've heard crossers tend to be cheap to repair if you crash 'em.

But i was just wondering what the difference is between different types of 125's in terms of handling, accelleration etc. by different types i mean sport bikes, peds, etc.

Also, are there any good honda 125s that tend to be quite cheap? would be great to get a honda, i hear they're pretty reliable and easy to get parts for

ps. sorry for grammar n stuff im useless Razz

Honda:

CG125 - Commuter, reliable, slow
XR125 - Dirtbike, same as CG
NSR125 - Sportsbike, two stroke, fast, needs more care
Varadero 125 - Slow, heavy, same as CG but enduro style
VT125 - V twin cruiser, slow
CL125 - enduro/dirtbike style, very slow

All are pretty good learner bikers, just choose style you like

Road bikes expensice to insure as they have expensive plastics.

Off road bikes are expensive to insure as they're highly nickable.

2T/4T - Doubt there's much difference between a XRand a DT.

Oh, a DT125R is a much better bet than a XR or a MX. Good mix of "power" and reliability.

The MX125 shares the motor with the RS125 (i think) so it's pretty quick, but also fragile unless warmed up and given top quality oil and re-builds.

It depends what you want,
IMO a dt125r (or kdx/tsr) is about the best mix of looks, power, reliability and parts prices

which probably explains why ancient field bike examples seem to start at £500

i have a mx (well selling soon ) but its a great bike!is fast enough mine does 85 at a push!they are fine if you look after them as was said before warm it up for 5 mins or so feed it good oil(i use fuchs 2t at £14 a litre) and love it!the four strokes are slower but easier to maintain!as reliability ive done 3000 miles trouble free!
