What is the main use of the bike?

Pirelli Diablos are a good bet (long lasting, good wet weather grip, sticky enough), did me well on the R6, although have just swapped over to SuperCorsa's now summers here (although they seem to wear at an alarming rate)

now the summers here just really for dry road use davo, but saying that, when summers over oviously dont want to go out and get another set for over the winter, so a good all round suggestion for both dry and wet season riding.

Thumbs Up

Lots of People will say Michelin Pilot Powers inc 2ct, Pirelli Diablo, Bridgestone BT014.

I myself have some Metzeler Sportec M3's, cant fault them but to be honest i cant tell the difference between these m3's and the old Dunlop D208's i had on originally - depends how you use them, obviously i hadn't taken them to the limits

I use the 'normal' Michelin Pilot Powers on my R6 and have no problems with them whatsoever. I reckon I will get around 3500-4000 miles from a rear Pilot Power, so although they wear quite quickly they are not the worst that I have seen. But as always it is a compromise between a long life span and the grip that a tyre will give.

Don't forget one of the best mods you can do to your '03 R6 is to bin the original spec 60 profile front tyre and use a 70 profile instead. That is unless someone already has done it on your bike. Very Happy

The best tyres I've ever had were Michelin 2CT's, oodles of grip and does make you feel more confident. There good in both wet and dry conditions.

I'm currently using Diablos to see what there like and to be honest I'm not too impressed. Lost grip a few times in dry and damp conditions and there not making me feel very confident. Also they square off quite quickly.

Dunlop D208's left a good impression on me, I had them on my FZ1 before it got killed. Very good grip in wet and dry conditions.

Not tried BT014's myself but a friend of me rants on about how good they are.

Well thats my 2p's worth.

Diablo corsas are the fastest to warm up out of the sportier tyres, and they offer close to amazing grip in the wet.

In the recent Superbike magazine test they scored 99%!

My diablo's are a massive improvement from my BT020's

But then it depends on your time, type and style of riding, i prefer having the ability to attack the bends, pull away fast and have hot sticky tyres so the diablo's for me are a mssive improvement on the seemingly cold Bridgstones i had even though ive only had the diablo's for a week or so now.

First hot day out on them was saturday and i felt incredably confident attacking the bends and round abouts at speed and more importantly accelerating hard out of the bends, well harder than i have been on the bridgestones.

Whilst the Bt020's were long lasting i found they left little room for mistake in bad conditions, accelerating out of bends (even fairly "gentle" acceleration) on even slightly damp days i have had the back wheel slide and shake the bike all over the place. Allright weather and road surface has huge amount to play in that but personally having the more sticky sport tyres has given me much more confidence in the grip, even while im running the shine of.

Where as the diablo's seem fairly solid and stable at a good amount of lean unless the BT020's were ragged for some time to get the heat into them they felt very twitchy and didnt seem to grip the road to much, feeling them constantly edge out and slide tiny amounts when pushing them.

Anyway my 2 cents worth, as above just depends on what you want from your tyres.

HTH Thumbs Up

I've heard a few bad reports about quite short tyre life when using Bridgestone BT014's. I can't validate it as such and my mate had these BT014's on his GSXR600. I can't recall how many miles a rear did on his bike but I think it was between 3000-3500 miles, which by my reckoning on a supersports bike it wasn't actually that bad.

I've got the standard Pilot Powers on mine and think they're great. Coped very well at Silverstone without looking too battered - my old BT014s looked shagged after a trackday.
