well what is it? what is the most cringworthy thing about being a biker for you?

for me it might be,

Biker boyz- the line "burn rubber, not your sole" = ghey Rolling Eyes

taking your lid off after a long cold run, and everyone seeing the trail of snatters dripping down your face, Embarassed

or having hands which stink of the sweat and crap inside your gloves. Sick

Standing on the pegs and shaking your arse, trying to get your pants out of your arsecrack and your balls back where they belong.

Mebbe I should switch to boxers.

Not much, I enjoy riding a bike, BUT...

The most cringeworthy part is being called "brave" (usually by older work colleagues) when people find out I ride a bike. How sodding patronising - because of course, I am only a woman and it stands to reason that big bad bikes should scare me...! Rolling Eyes

Wearing leathers.

Get ribbed about it quit often. (blue oyster bar lines etc).

Went somewhere last week and was wearing work shirt (pink one) and had leather bottoms on.

Not good.

setting off either with the sidestand still down and everyone turning around to see what that horrible noise is.
or setting off with the disc lock still on (never happened to me.....yet)

Not embarassing, but having to take your lid everywhere with you if it's your only method of transport.

Leathers look cool to fellow bikers, but to the uninformed, I suspect there are many comments.

Most embarrasing thing is falling off.

Being piss wet through when paying for petrol, leaving puddles by the counter as you stand there emptying half of england on the floor, sounds like you're taking a leak too...

Placing my bike boots under my desk at work when Ive changed into my work gear and having people ask me what THAT smell is.

I just tell em I farted.
When the ask if Im being for real, I simply reply " of course, do you think I always smell like this?"

I was going to say leathers.

I don't mind because they make me look sexy and pretty tonked up, but i heard some bell end chav say to me " i wouldn't want to be wearing what your wearing down this street" - err, i'm about to pick my bike up, that's why! Rolling Eyes

Also this, anybody ever had a big meal before riding out and realise that your bowels are disfunctional. You realise you need to take a shit, and then when you do, it takes 10 minutes to remove your gear and then the turd initiates its expulsion whilst you're just about to unzip your 2 pieces of your leathers. I nearly took a direct hit in my leathers when i couldn't get seated quickly enough. A slight bow downwards forcing my rump over the seat sorted that out and it was a direct hit in the toilet bowl. The knee sliders, shin armour and the boots make it hard for you to pull your leathers low enough in the first place to assume a comfortable excretion position. So you have to more or less "hover" and risk missing the bowl. That's pretty embarrasing when you almost missed a rideout because "i needed to take a shit" Embarassed Karma

Thats gotta be my bike boots. They are a tad "ugly" when worn around town. I have overheard a few comments such as "[sarcastically to friend] Why don't you get some boots like that?"

I just laugh though, I know they are there to protect me, not look good. I'm not one to care what people think anyway Wink (I overhear ten times as many comments about my hair, and do I cut it? Hell no,)

I concur with the gent and his toilet troubles... a friend of mine once laid a cable in his leathers by mistake!

I'm not fond of 'helmet-hair' either, nor a damp crotch...

1. worrying about someone nicking my bike
2. being associated with the bad riders that give us all a bad name. Sorry if anyone here is a bad rider but I dislike my friends and relatives having ammunition to bash me with. It's the same for cycling suprisingly.

Helmet hair for me. I was once caught 'doing' my hair in the wing mirror and heard this person shouting "Oi! Sexy boy!, you look lovely."

It's not my fault I'm vein? Or is it?

Taking 5 mins to put your helmet and gloves on and off just to get petrol Thumbs Down

Little kids screaming at you as you go past is a little awkward too.

Quite possibly the most embarrassing thing happened about an hour ago:

Going to present a paper at a Board meeting to be introduced as "This young lady came into my office yesterday morning wearing tight leather... and best of all, it was creaking!" by the Chair Embarassed

Otherwise, I have to agree with Trixie on the "You don't look like a biker, how do you cope with the weight, it's so big!" comments.
