My other half lost his, and got a call from the local police station.....someone had handed it in. Thumbs Up

But you can get a replacement from the DVLA, costs £7 and you need to fill in a V20 form. this can be downloaded from the DVLA website. See below:

My alloy holder snapped and went awol, wasn't paying again so just didn't get a replacement. That was 5 years ago and there hasn't been one on the bike since, I keep it in my wallet instead(safer there).

Isn't it a legal requirement to display the same on the vehicle? Wink

They can also fine you for having it on the wrong side of the bike, as it should be on the near side.

Only been pulled once and they asked to see it. I just took it out my wallet and showed them. Told them it was in there for theft protection, he didn't bat an eyelid.

As I understand it there isnt any other instruction except that it has to be on the nearside...

The various bikes in our garage have them all over

I keep mine in my jacket pocket. I got stopped once and the police woman asked why I wasn't displaying a tax disc and I told her my last one was stolen. She said "Fair enough" and that was that.

If I did that, I know I'd end up putting it through the wash. Then I'd report it stolen!

How long was left to run on it? If it only a few months then I wouldn't bother about getting a replacement. Your bike is technically still taxed, you can only get collared for failing to display it (which is highly unlikely).

What I like about taxxing a vehicle here (not required by all states) is its just a sticker that has to be shown on the right hand side of the bike.

Mine is inside the fairing, you have to look up from the front wheel and inside Laughing
