My new Hornet

Well, after passing my DAS a few weeks ago, I picked up my Hornet the following day. Here it is when I first picked it up:

After adding a flyscreen and a belly pan, it looks a million times better!

I haven't really seen many Hornets, but they look so boring and mundane with simplistic styling.

With the addition of a belly pan (suits some bikes not others) it looks so much better as does the small fly screen. I suppose its the type of bike that you could spend the value of the bike on accessories to have a real 'one off', but if it makes you happy then who cares

Where did you get the belly pan from dude, and how much was it?

The ones Ive seen so far are rediculously expensive, like £100+. Fuck that for a bit of plastic!

There are loads of Hornets around here. I went out with a mate (who also owns a Hornet) to see his brother (who has a Hornet as well). When we got there, there were quite a few other lads with Hornets! It was like a mini Hornet meet!

I bought the bellypan and flyscreen from Bransons Honda in Yoevil, who got it through Skidmarx. The flyscreen was £40 (forgot to get my 10% on that one). The bellypan was £85 (including my discount). They also get it sprayed in a variety of colours for you included in the price!

Nice Hornet, how many miles are on the clock and how much did you pay? I recommend you get a hugger next - mine never had one until I got it and the rear shock had gone rusty whilst previous owners owned the bike.

The bellypan I have is a tailored one (it fits around the engine casing really nicely(, so I'm not sure how well it would fit a Bandit, but there are pleanty of different ones out there anyway.

I paid £2k for it from a Honda dealer. It was up for £2300, but I got it for 2. It has 18k on it right now, and has been superbly maintained.

Stupid question, but what exactly is a hugger?

A hugger is what goes over the wheels, basically a mud guard to stop road crap flicking up, not having one on the back of the bike will make your shock/suspension exposed to all the road elements which will reduce its life.

The belly pan doesn't half give it a different look I might consider one myself wonder how easy they are to fit?

Not bad in red either I hadnt really considered getting my Hornet in red but it looks great!

Before you buy anything else...

You NEED to get an "Extenda" for the front mudguard.

I paid about £17 for mine I think.
