a tunes r1 i would say your looking about 190-210mph. most of the change will be to the bike acceleration i think a standard r1 has a top end of 185mph any way.

but "how fast does 150bhp go?" is a bad question as hp isnt always relivant to speed i.e an f1 car has less hp than a rally tuned suzuki cultis but the cultis is sugnificantly slower than an f1 car

I think all bikes are restricted to 186 mph now Confused Question
Think its due to some japanese 'gentlemans' agreement between the bike companies, taht they restrict all new bikes to 300kmh?
Not entirely certain, but I'm sure I read/heard it somewhere.

fzr1000 isnt r1
150bhp, should be good for about 170 anyway as long as its done right(depends on gearing etc)
a gsxr1000 does 180 from 160 bhp, an r1 176 from 150ish, so should be in the region

Not that im biassed in any way, but on top end speed the 2002 ZX9R is higher by a fraction even if its heavier, bigger and slightly more soggy handling when compared to the Blade,R1,GSXR.

Hi

My bike uses an FZR1000 EXUP engine, but in a lighter frame (basically 25kg lighter). As standard they are 145~149hp (depends who you ask), but UK bikes were 125hp (they were restricted with a small rubber web moulded into the carb mounting rubbers). The road test top speed of my bike is 172mph

All the best

Keith

what is point of having all that power and can't use it in the uk, and most people that have theres bikes are dead by the time the first MOT is due because thay don't know how to ride. thay pass there test go to the nearest bike shop and buy a r1 or r6. I think u should have to a take a advance superbike test before u buy.

IME people usally injure/kill themselves by messing up on corners... I've slid various 125s on corners with misuse of power, so it isn't an issue (though obviously you would have to be a /lot/ mopre carefull on GSXR1000). A 250 2st will get to around 130 which is plenty enough to kill yourself if you do something stupid in a straight line.

Saying that I do think that the training/test should include more about actual biking eg counter steering etc.

A brand spanking R1 is 152bhp at the crank so a tuned FZR should reach that - if its in full race tune then it *may* be 150bhp at the wheel - in which case youd be looking at 190ish depending on gearing. If that figures a crank figure then it'll be more like 170mph - a bit slower than an R1 cuz its a heavier bike.

Thats my thinking as well. Id rather get to 120 in the time it takes to sneeze than be able to to 160+.

The onlytime your evergonna use that is on a race track, and if your on a geared down 400 then you'll be just as quick as the big boys anyway.

186 is a restriction put on all new bikes, many people think its quite useless as only 2 bikes have done it!
who cares anyways, a 389bhp hayabusa will still do 216mph even if they restrict it, theres always a way around it!

I got a 160mph bike not so much for the top speed than for the acceleration and ease of riding... while I can thrash it if I want I can also get reasonable performance without thrashing it (ie good acceleration in 6th on a motorway) and I wan t a bike thats comfortable for long distances, which the 400s aren't for me.
