Gotta put some new rubber on soon and I was going for the same tyre as before (Pilot Sports) as I don't know any different handeling wise as its all I 've ever had + they are only £135 for a pair.
Now the guy in the tyre shop suggested that Pilot powers 2ct are a much better tyre (as many on here agree) but £170 ish. He suggested that I buy the new Pilot Road 2's instead as I commute everyday on the bike and I would prob get double milage out of them for the same price (£170) + they have the softer compound at the edges like the 2ct's BUT are a lot heavier.
Bear in mind I've only had a sports bike for 9 months (125 before that) so don't ride anywhere near the level the bike is capable of yet but I don't want to do something that will upset the bike (heavier wheels) too much

Help Shocked

Are you likely to notice the difference of heaier wheeles if you don't ride near the level of the bike.

Why not consider Pilot Roads if you're still getting used to the bike, they are more sport touring and you should get good mileage out of them but they'll be grippy enough for knee down.

They also have a less steep profile so the bike won't be as twitchy.

I had Conti Road Attacks on my 400 when I first started riding... still managed to get my knee down on them.

Although my Avon Azaro ST rear was pretty good, I can't say that the dual compound tyre gave me any extra mileage.
My Michelin 011??? front tyre has given me 8000 miles so far (about 500 miles left on it). I had a puncture on the rear tyre and ran with an Azaro for 6000miles and it had about 1000-1500 miles left on it before it got a puncture.
The highly respected guy at Buckley tyres said to expect about 6000-7000 out of my (repaired and replaced) Michelin 020.

My point is, I'm not sure I'd ever buy another dual compound tyre again, certainly not for my (relatively) low powered Bandit 650.

There's a review of them in Bike magazine this month. Basically they're a much more stable tyre, and better in the wet. The testers were getting between 3-5mph quicker round each corner of the test circuit in the wet. I think they were getting 5 degrees more lean too. Apparently they offer longer mileage too, although they were dubious about that as the hardest compound in the new tyre was softer than the compound of the old one.

If you're not short on cash I'd give them a try.

Road 2 is a good tyre. Works on my 636 anyway. Better grip than road attacks, on which I was able to knee down and generally hoon about, so I'm happy Thumbs Up has the bonus of being long lasting too.

Aren't the Pilot Roads the ones that are "All Slip and NO Grip" unless they're warmed up to about a squillion degress?
