The 'Airoh' post made me remember something I've been meaning to ask...I'll be wanting a new lid soon as I don't trust my current one. I have been looking at several makes but the one that piques my interest the most is the Vemar VSREV Diadem.

Obviously I value my head but my budget is fairly limited so I can't spend more than about £200 on a helmet, and the Vemar is the nicest looking helmet of that price range imo. I have read a couple of reviews but they weren't specific of the VSREV and seemed somewhat outdated.

Generally speaking I haven't heard much about Vemar, can anybody recommend them?
If not, how about recommendations for helmets around the £200 (or less) mark?

Safety, comfort, mist and noise are probably the most important factors here but obviously I know I'll have to compromise somewhere.

Not had any experience of them myself, but this chart might give an indication of where one sits compared to some others. Not sure how old this is, but it's been on my PC since last June :-

Hm, that is less than stellar.
Thanks for that, though. Very useful Karma

You can pick up an Arai Condor for £200 from Hein Gericke, they seem to have a permanent sale on them. Comfortable helmet for me, great thing about is is the pinlock system, so you can mount removable antifog inserts, which stops mist from forming as much.

You should go to your local bike gear shop and just try a few helmets in your price range, what may be comfortable for someone else may not be comfortable at all for you etc.

Shoei Raid has got to be about the best £200 (ish) lid surely.

Will definitely be going to try things on before I buy them, but I wanted to have an idea what I was looking for as my 'local' bike gear store (as in the nearest one that stocks anything other than Nitro) is about 45 miles away.

Thanks for the replies folks, very helpful Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

The lid im after is second from bottom on that list but its a cracking lid, not the quietest but it is ace in all other aspects, also the only manufacterer that fits my head shape!

Vemar seem to be picking up the quality of their lids, always been bulky and cheap in the past but i think they are moving up in the world at the moment Thumbs Up

There was a really smart "DeAngelis" replica helmet in all the bike mags last season, could'nt even get it in this country. Not really related to what you were saying but I just wanted to moan about not being able to get it. Laughing

I used the Shark RSF2 Race for my first lid and that was great, but the chin stuck out miles! Got it half price in the sale too!

I had a Vemar about 5 years ago. It was comfy and quiet. I did noticed a big weight difference when I replaced it with a Raid though, but then the Vemar cost half as much. Don't remember it misting particularly badly.

Never crashed in it so can't particularly vouch for it's protective qualities. But it's still a decent fit today (karting lid), so the padding seems to have held up okay over the years.

My Boy (14) has one.

For some reason he wanted the one with the Mad Dog on the back???

I would say it's a pretty reasonable lid for the money, but in the end, you get what you pay for. Put together well, and has a nice visor ratchet mechanism, bloody light too. One thing I don't like about it, on a personal note, is the "Seat Belt" style strap fastener, I prefer the Double D Ring style myself.

He don't come on the back very often, and knowing what teenagers are like for changing their minds every ten minutes, I didn't want to spend a fortune on a lid for him only to have it sitting in the cupboard for months on end.

The "K" Series seemed to push all the buttons, and I'm happy for my Son to wear one.

Ye, thought they looked like a good lid and agv seem to have a good reputation so i think i will go for one unless someone can recommend a good lid for under £150 Thumbs Up
