Anyone going?

There's already three times as many bikes as usual booked for the ferries for this year's TT.

You'll also be able to witness a 130mph average lap speed this year too with the changes made to sections of the course.

Should be interesting...

Shame Joey & Jefferies aren't around to see the TT into it's 100th Birthday.

Also, would be nice to see the MV Augusta's take on some of the competitors (in style!). Twisted Evil

Mainly Windy Corner and Brandish - way quicker now. The 130 lap is pretty much guaranteed - I just hope all the competitors finish the event safely...

Big change this year is that the mountain road is one way for the whole two weeks, not only Mad Sunday, which will hopefully help to prevent nasty head-on collisions. It's not gonna be two weeks of Mad Sunday, though - normal rules of the road apply and ye olde bill will be around quite a lot to prevent total chaos.

If you're going, then these numbers might be useful:

New TT Info Line: 01624 / 685 888
Police (non emergency): 01624 / 631 212
Steam Packet Ferries Info Line: 01624 / 661 661
Tourist Information: 01624 / 686 766
Airport Info Desk: 01624 / 821 600

Can't wait for it to start Very Happy

Press Statement from the Steam Packet company - might be important if you're planning to travel over here:

PRESS STATEMENT

In response to some queries from our passengers regarding timetable changes we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. We are endeavouring to accommodate all our passengers at this exceptionally busy time for the company and the Island as a whole.

Out of 41,000 passengers booked on our ferries 5,000 are affected. We are informing passengers travelling this week by telephone and everyone affected by letter in the next 24 hours to advise them of their new port details and travel time. Many of these passengers are now being accommodated on our fast craft ferry whereas previously they were booked on our conventional ferry. This will reduce their travel time considerably.

We would ask all passengers to arrive at the times indicated on their ticket to avoid any problems. The sea traffic in and out of Douglas and UK and Irish ports will be unprecedented over the TT period and all ships will be operating to very tight port slots and turn around times.’

With approximately 18,000 bikes compared to 9,600 bikes booked on our ferries last year and approximately 5,000 cars and vans booked we anticipate an exceptionally busy period. We would like to illustrate our appreciation of our customers support and patience at this time.

The necessary changes have been made to optimise passenger bookings and make this year’s Centenary event a successful one for everyone concerned. Passengers wishing to discuss revised bookings should call our reservations line on 0871 222 1333 or alternatively +441624661661.

For more information please contact Laura Howland, communications manager at the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company on 01624 645645.

There's a real sense of anticipation here at the moment, even more so than in previous years, IMO.

Bikers have already started arriving, I've had reports of all sorts of vans/tents behind the grandstand, some with German flags, so we've already got some long distance guests over. Out of my office window I'm sure I've seen some Swiss plates on bikes riding past, too.

Rutter's truck has arrived, as has Klaffi's (these I know for sure), others I'm not too sure about yet.

On the other hand, petrol has gone up, beer is probably about to go up and I'm waiting to get served my pint in one of those crappy squashy plastic glasses....oh yes, the TT is almost here!! Laughing

Today's gone proper busy and it's going to get busier!
