My GF got a puncture the other day on the rear tyre of her ER5.

Theres no decent bike shop up her neck of the woods but about 10 miles away (near my house) there is and I used to work for them so they did a bit of discount on a new tyre.

Anyway, her housemate gave her a lift up there with the wheel on Tuesday but couldn't pick it back up today. She needed the bike today so I said I'd drop the tyre down at hers... it cant be that hard to carry on a bike surely....

How wrong I was, I sat on top of the wheel but had to have it sproket side up to stop it ripping my seat, this in turn meant I had a rear sproket jammed into my arse for 10 miles. I also had to switch onto reserve half way, but the unusual high riding position made it very difficult to reach. Roundabouts were fun too!

Well you get 10/10 for your bravado in attempting to ride a bike whilst sitting on top of an ER5 rear wheel. But surely about 0/10 for common sense.

I really don't know whether to laugh or cry at your post, but the over riding factor that jumps out at me in all of this is just how dangerous a trick it was. Confused

In hindsight, it probably wasn't the brightest idea I've ever had.

If it had been an A road journey theres no way I'd have done it, but the fastest road is 40 and it was rush hour on a friday.

Got some very strange looks along the way though!

I've been there and done some crazy things whilst driving/riding myself. Most of which I have no desire to repeat. But as you get get older you realise that some of the things that you have done in the past were down right bleeding stupid! Very Happy

ok, so it aint a motorbike, but im well known for carrying insane items on a mountain bike, such as a printer under my arm, or a 6ft "spud bazooka (which can fire tennis balls through wooden garage doors!). You'll get all the safety guys saying that was stupid to do, was it strapped on? or would it fall off if came off the seat?

Nonsense. He'd just bounce straight off whatever it was that he hit.
Quite safe, really.

I'm intrigued by the 'spud bazooka'! Sounds perfect for scaring off the neighbour's moggie...

How's it made?

haha, no... (sorry if that disappoints ya)

It would be the little shits on my estate that find it funny to put bricks across the road. Infatc, shooting a brick out of it could be more worthwhile watching if it hits one of the wankers.

It wasn't too bad actually, it made the front wheel a little light at times but otherwise it felt pretty normal. I'd rather it there than the sproket poking my bottom.
