a stupid topic starter i guess, but something that bothers me nevertheless. Im 6"3, so naturally I'm worried about being too tall. Although my worst nightmare is being too tall for all the bikes I look forward to owning in the future, mainly an R1. Are there many of you guys out there who struggle/dont struggle with their size on sports bikes?!

I have a mate is about 50 and 6ft 4, he rides an SP1 and doesn't have much trouble with it. It's quite a bit larger than the R1 though I think.
He did have an R1 and had no troubles at all until he stacked it.

haha cheers steveh. well i happen to own an SR125 Rolling Eyes haha
its not brilliant, but it's only a first bike to get me around until I pass my test. glad to see theres a few guys out there who are tall and still manage it. and yeah supermotos do seem to be for us. I'm not that keen on them really, although I did see a guy tonight wheeling a KTM Duke around Laughing

im 6'4 and my god jappers are super uncomfortable, my zxr750 i had to streetfight and put bar risers on just to stop it being a torture rack, pritty much all bikes ive owned have been really shit to ride on for long distances ... except the gs500 that was a really comfortable bike to ride(had lifted it though)but crap slow Very Happy i think a big arse enduro or tourer would be good for us lanky lads Very Happy

yeah, nice idea, I've looked at the Buell Ulysees which looks like a cool bike to have eventually. not sure I'll be owning anything like that for a while though. I know you can have bikes lowered, for the smaller members of the biking community, but can bikes be raised? I know you can get risers n stuff for your handlebars, but to what extent can we change our bikes to better suit our size?

every bike i get, straight away gets a lift kit (dog bones) on the rear and bar risers on the front.
that sorts half the problem, but we are still left with the short distance from the seat to the foot pegs, and there isnt much we can do about it, you still end up with sore legs being bent so much,
grin and bare it i suppose Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Same height as you my man and have an r1 also. You have to build up your distances gradually as your legs get used to the position, i'd advise some adjustable rearsets just to get you that extra bit of leeway. After a while you can ride for quite a fair way in relative comfort, i say relative as its a sportsbike so whaddya expect Very Happy
You are no way too tall for one, never had any back pain either. HTH! Thumbs Up

older sportsbikes are more comfortable. The slabby 1100 wasnt bad, the 750 great and my GPZ is quite comfy.
