Think most have them on for tart value..
Two reasons (as i understand it, if i'm way off i'd like to know)
When raceing they have them to keep the sun off the brake fluid (keeping it cool is important)
And to stop the fluid runing out of the cap (supposedly they can leak a bit, usually fluid would be spent after one race/trackday, i guess sometimes theres spare) , because when your flying along it looks like rain water (pulling in and finding it not raining at all might be a bit of a bugger)
Got one on mine, handy to stop it running allover when toping up fluid and adds to the tart bits on a crapheap look which amuses me. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

I used to have one round my reservoir on the 400/4, as it spat a little brake fluid out once while I was riding, all over the tank...hence little but noticeable spots where the fluid had affected the paint. I never had that problem again after putting on (and occasionally replacing) the sweatband. ____________________ Dead nobodies in company cars... |

Bakre fluid will boil under hard braking, and the pressure will push it out of the reservoir.
