My engine started to make this loud horrible grinding noise coming from the clutch side about 5 months ago, I wanted to strip the engine down but my old man said that the noise is just wear and tear and he didnt want to help me. over the past couple of weeks the engine started to get more slugish and started to get louder in noise.

Last week when I was coming home from work at 2AM, I just got onto the A41 when all of a sudden, my gearbox went bang, and then the engine seized up at 65mph, the back wheel locked up and I was fish tailing in the left hand lane. Thanks to my quick thinking of pulling in the clutch, I managed to keep the bike under control. I then rolled to a stop in some kinda V shaped gutter, opened the oil cap and smoke was pouring out from it like a house log fire.

Stripped down yesturday and found the big end seized solid, and this is what it looks like.

The reason I made this post, is so if anyone hears a grinding noise that sounds like a washing machine on idle, this may be your problem.
