Today me and Mod661 (nick) were Sooooo damn lucky.
We were having a blast around trying to keep out of the rain when we ended up at the Sun Inn on the B6451 just off the A59. We had a few minutes to decide our next move then set off towards Pool.
Got 200yards from the pub over a crest and there was Mr plod. Sad Pulled Nick over, I stopped behind the police car, my heart sank as Nick has 3 points and 3 more would be a ban. He then told us we were BOTH doing 50 in a 40 zone...BUT Nick has a small plate and as 50 isnt that bad Shocked I will only do you for that.....I thought OMFG how lucky can you get Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Nick ended up with a £30 fine and not even a producer. What makes it even better is that I was in front most of the time. Nick went to lead after we left the pub, he told us that if Nicks plate had been legal he WOULD have done us BOTH for speeding.

Sometimes Lady luck shines her wonderful rays down on us and today was our day Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

We split the cost of the fine, seems only fair as it was MY idea to have him lead. Embarassed

haha, I bet the sum total of the scooters was about £10.50 Smile

I do that road a few times (Sunn Inn to Pool) as its only about 4 miles from home. I've not seen any police there myself, but it was only a matter of time as like most biker pubs, too many people cant resist the temptation to scream away from the pub and through the hamlet (not saying 50 in a 40 is screaming through - I mean the ones that are probably doing 70/80).

You've no doubt already done it, but the reverse of that route is much better as that side of the road is much better condition.

He got us bang to rights with the in car speed cam, was the the Volo T5 patrol car. He chose to do Nick on the least offence, not a bad cop I would say Cool

Been there a few times, only seen the plod once and I was doing about 70 in an NSL. Luckily he had stopped some guy in a cage so I just slowed to 60 as I went past. Only about 2 miles from my house Razz .

I'm with babyyam on this one. Why would he do you for less stuff, because your mate has an illegal plate? Doesnt make any sense, unless he wants to just catch someone for something, and the small plate thing is the least fuss!

He showed us the reading on the gun was 50mph, sometimes if you speak to them with respect they don`t always throw the book at you.

Nick was given a lecture for speeding but fined for the lesser offence of the small plate.

What is so hard to understand Confused

I have been pulled many times over the years in my job. (H.G.V) I have NEVER been done for the offence I was pulled for, just had lots of lectures Rolling Eyes

How long has that bit of road been 40 ? Seem to remember it being NSL. But then again it has been a long time since i was last up there.
I would guess that he thought while you were speeding that at 50 it was not dangerous, and a warning would be enough to slow you down. Then he spotted the number plate that he thought needed some attention.

Best bet would be he was a NYP who are pretty good at their job and play fair.

I got stopped in the car for speeding, pulled over and got installed in the back of a fancy BMW M3 or 5 or whatever it was. Policeman claimed they had me at 104 at one point and 91 at another. They did me for the 91, 3 points blah blah blah which was definately preferable to the 104mph... Shocked

I never apologise to the police and I never simper. They're there to do a job, if you break the speed limit it's there job to give you a ticket. I just admit it, maybe look sheepish but thats it.

I remember being stopped by a constable for having a back light out (electrical problem, already had a 7 day producer for it...) Some high ranking policeman leapt from the passenger side and started lecturing about safety totally over riding the constable, he was really going for it, much hand chopping & raising of the voice. I held my hands up to stop him and said I'd rather have a ticket than a lecture.

I hate being lectured like that, soooo patronising... Evil or Very Mad

Still, they did let me go. (probably cause I already had a ticket for it... Confused )

Not all coppers are tossers.

I got stopped once driving the massively overloaded works van and got pulled over by a couple of coppers, one noticed the lid and leather on the passenger seat, he wrote me out the ticket for the overweight van with the other copper next him, then when the other copper toddled off to check my details, he winked and told me he had to write me up, but I shouldn't worry about it too much.

We then sat and and had a chat about bikes while the other copper checked my details; turned out he used to be a bike cop.

Points and fine never came through.
