PostPosted: 14:23 - 22 Apr 2007    Post subject: FOUND. Honda CBR 125 in a field, possibly stolen. UPDATE Reply with quote

Walking the dog I found a Honda CBR 125 (Repsol all over the fairing)
The tank is orange, there is no number plate but the frame number is:- MLHJC34A 065207870.

It was found in a field in south northampton, the lock is bust, chain is hanging off, leavers are bent, fuel cap missing, BUT, it started on the button and I rode it home. (Rides nice)

I have reported it to the police, If it is yours you can contact them on 01327 300300.
It appears to be stolen, so there is probably a sad kid out there who has saved for ages for this thing.

Cheers, Stalk.

UPDATE
Nothing happened for the week so I phoned Honda UK with the frame number, they where able to give me the reg number and I recontacted the police. It turns out that it is stolen and it will shortly be collected and on its way back to the owner. Good Result.
Cheers, Stalk.

As you confirmed its already reported to the Police, I guess it's just wait and see. Thumbs Up

Sounds like it must have been stolen and crashed by some scumbag... no blood or gore spatters by any chance is there Twisted Evil

Nice one and good on you for putting it on here, but one question, how the hell did the dog get home? Laughing

What a silly question, he would have tied the lead to the pillion handles and towed him home!

It's a cbr125, i think it's more likely the dog towed him home.

Took dog home, went back for bike, only an extra 2 miles. I'ts nice to be young and fit, but I'm not so now I am just knackered.

Another thing, anyone know the score if i'ts unclaimed? Would I get to keep it? Have fired an email at DVLA Swansea to see what they say. Mini stalk would kill for this bike.

Cheers, Stalk

How did you ride it home with the chain hanging off?

I believe that if it doesn't come up on the stolen vehicle register and can be identified that way, and nobody comes forward to claim it within 28 days, you can indeed take legal possession of it.

If you do get to keep it you may have to re-register it on a q-plate though - unless the plate is still on it? (Am assuming not as you only mentioned the frame number?)

It's highly unlikely the origional owner won't be traced seeing as the frame number is intact. Cross your fingers though, you never know.

iirc, you can get apply to get something back off the police if not claimed with in a month or so cos after that they crush it, well done for recovering it, if it's reported 'lost'/stolen, some little kid might be soo happy..

OT, but
I once found a 56 plate CBR125 with keys in ignition not running left fully unlocked in a bike bay in York CC, called police and the owner turned up same time as police, was on provisional, no L plates which the copper didn't car to notice and when I mentioned the lack of security he simply said "I'd claim off the insurance" I gave up with the prick and fucked off(ignorant twat, I could have saved his bike being nicked) Thumbs Down

Cheers everyone,
Stalk.

I may be being stupid but couldnt you ring the DVLA and give them the frame number and they could tell you who its registered to?

Or if they wont give it to you ring back and say its your bike and someone broke the reg plate off and you need to know the reg so you can get a new plate made up, Alough thats maybe not a good idea if it is stolen lol.

(para 1) I refer you to reply 7 in this thread.

(para 2) Read it again and you will see what a daft statement that is. I am not even going to mention the log book that you could read the regestration number off if the bike was yours, or the tax disk.

Don't be silly, Joe, loads of people take their dogs for walks with their bikes. Here's one such example.

Fair play to you! I bet the kid didn't know that the insurance company won't pay up if he leaves the keys in the ignition, as well as losing it as a result of falling for a scam etc. All in the small print on the insurance docs.

Little prick will never make it as a biker if he does not not love his bike so deeply he would kill his own mother for touching it.
