Smile

'elo.

In the next few months, June, July time, I want to do a trackday.
I am from the Southampton area, and would like a bit of advice on which track would a good one to start on - or if anyone has any booked that I could tag along to so someone could show me the ropes etc.

I'm a fairly confident, competent rider, I've read the FAQ thingy and all that. I just want to get out there and have a go.

Any help mucho appreciated.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Not many tracks that near to you.

Pembrey, Lydden or Snetterton I'd reccomend.
However plenty of people have done first trackdays at Silverston and Brands and still enjoyed them, despite the tracks being a bit more complicated.

Silverstone GP is probably your worst bet because it's long and in some places technical.

In conflict with G, I would argue that Silverstone would be fine as a first novice day, unless you are expecting to ace it after two sessions.
The GP circuit is very wide with good safety (also has some F1 concrete run offs 'a la' Turkey saving Rossi's ass on Sunday). In my opinion it's not overly technical either.

I did ask for a sticky in the 2007 trackdays thread to stop endless 'I'm going to so and so on such a date' threads appearing, and so that people can easily see who will be where, but it seems to have died on it's arse.....

Silverstone is OK for newbies, however it can be very difficult to judge how quickly a turn tightens up for example at the end of the pit straight it tightens up a fair amount, before you realise it you're on the borders of the track.

Just use the calendar, you can link a thread from there.

Brands Hatch Indy on 05/06/07 seems a bit tempting.

Track doesn't look too hard either.

Good choice? Excuse my stupidity.

Brands Indy is a good circuit, fairly easy to learn, but difficult to get it right (if that makes any sense).

It's somewhat interesting the first time you go down paddock hill.

Cool, thanks for all the info.

I think I may plump for that once it's payday. Don't suppose anyone else is up for it?
