Hi guys,
So I've been away for a while but now I'm back from Yankyland and am the proud owner of a shiny new(ish) R6
Here's a question for you folk of BCF - I'm tempted to get rid of the standard plate and get myself a flashy 'show plate'. I understand PC Plod might not look favourably on this, but what's the penalty if I do get pulled?
Cheers,

Most plates have a line of text at the bottom anyway (they have for my bikes) advertising the dealership that sold the bike originally (my ZZR had the plate replaced by the last dealer) so I can't see the problem with having a slogan across the bottom as long as the rest of the plate is in the correct size and font etc...
when I replaced the rear mudguard on the Divvy with a hugger I stuck a row of red reflectors over the dealership logo.. Which I could've been done for apparently as it is covering the plate makers details...
After checking it out, you need to have the right sized letters, the right shaped plate etc and no graphics bar the legaly allowed ones. www.craigsplates.co.uk have a plate with an additional bit on the bottom for a slogan that keeps it legal....
Mind you, as I'm heading to the track soon, I might just get "N33 0ww" made as a show plate..

OK, so it sounds to me that unless I do something stooopid like make it 6"x1", blue with a honeycomb/three lions background and an italic font I probably wont get pulled.
And, if I do get pulled all I'll get is a fine - I'll not get points or anything like that. I can handle a fine, it's the points I don't fancy...

You're legally meant to have where the plate was produced on the bottom of it I think. Name and postcode as a minimum.
I've got a '99 R6 and it came with the huge standard plate - looked disgusting, nearly covered my mini indicators haha.
Put a tiny one on from Mal-Plates.
Got pulled at the weekend for it:

£30 fixed penalty notice, no producer but because of it, he just 'cautioned' me for doing 50mph in a 40 zone. (I think it was a 60..) so I guess without the plate, I might be facing another 3 points and a ban...
I'm ordering a bigger one tonight, not legal size but only an inch smaller each way I think. Gonna put it on a huge slant to make it look smaller :p ____________________ Nick - 56 R6 in Red/White |
