to fit a fuel gauge on my cbr 400??? is just im a little nervous about going long distances without one, dont wanna run out of fuel on the motorway and have to rely on the reserve

The trip meter is your friend.

As is some commonsense, i.e. filling up before undertaking long journeys.

That is what the reserve is for!!!!!

Ride until you hit the reserve then carry on till you find a petrol station! Your reserve should easily last long enough, especially if you are on the motor ways*.

*Unless you are doing 120mph, in which case just slow down when you hit the reserve!

yeah i always fill up before i travel, but its only a small tank.

I agree with Timmeh,

Reset the trip counter after you fill up then ride your bike until you hit the reserve, after doing this a few times you'll have an excellent idea of how far you can expect to go on a tank. This way if you're going to go on a long motorway stint you can gauge how and when you'll need to fill up.

Also when using the reserve you should easily be able to get to a petrol station! My NC30 has a smallish tank and will do just under 120 miles before it hit's the reserve when ridden normally.

thanks for that stiffler appreciate it. yeah mine will do about 100 miles but i tend to ride a little more harder than "normal riding"
