Moving abroad

What's the best qualifications, degree, trade to have then. I'm not going to stay in the U.K & as soon as i can i'll hopefully migrate to OZ or somehwere similar. So what's the best way to go about it, do you get the job before you go, stay in a hotel until you find work, then get a house? lol.
Any help would be great, got loads of times but intrested to know more.

I'm also moving abroad once I finish college, Alough my dad moved to Canada when he was 19 and said within 2 months he was saving for money to come home! Alough he went there illegaly, 'Got caught' and got a free flight home lol

My fiancée is currently doing a degree in Physiotherapy, their is a lack of jobs being offered in the NHS at the moment and Private is difficult to get a foothold on without experience, therefore one possibility is that we may move to Canada after graduation where they are desperate for Physiotherapists and are paying up to 3 times more than they are in the UK for the job.

Get ourselves set up money wise over there and then come back to Britain after 5 years or something. Don't think I could stay away from my family for longer.

Don't know what i'd do with my History degree over there though.

Nah he had a mate whos parents were from where they moved to so moved over with him, He got a job as a welder at a truck place (He was a welder at home)

He didnt get caught, He says he reported himself anonymously to get the free trip home, As flights were very expensive in those days (hes 54 now)

He said he just hated the way of life, The laws and things like that. You wern't even allowed to carry your own pint accross the bar, A waiter/waitress had to do it for you, lol. (Apparently its still like this!!)

I plan to move abroad and work for a few months and see how I like it, I live in Northern Ireland and its shit to be honest lol. So much more opportunity abroad, More money etc.

But anyway my dad says hes glad he done it otherwise he would have always wondered what it would be like.

It sure would be intresting to hear from some guys on here who have moved abroad and are happy

Hi. I'll hopefully (crosses fingers) be moving to Oz within the next 5 - 10 years after I get some plumbing experince under my belt.
My older brother moved last June and he is having the time of his life, he gets paid FOUR times more doing pretty much the exact same job in Oz than in the UK!

I'd probably advise somewhere like USA/CAN/Oz/NZ...even perhaps central/northern Europe depending if you can hack learning a new language

it costs about 5 pound for accommodation, food and another 5 pound for a ped fully fuelled.

So 10 pound a day for food accommodation and transport not bad.

plenty left for beer and... *imagination runs wild*

Best thing is is to take a look at the immigration websites for the country in question.

Each one has different requirements and may use a points-based system. Points for age, qualifications, experience (which is rated as high as quals in some cases) etc.

There isn't a definitive answer of best to have, as skills shortages are dynamic and change regularly due to supply and demand.

Cheers once again Mike, just looking at your NZ thread makes me even more determined to do it, some view you got.
One of the things is that i'll only be mid 20's & renting so obviously can't afford to buy anything for a quite a while, hopefully if everything went nicely i could rent a little place. Who know's.

The other thing is to move to OZ (this is the last I heard last year) you had to have aprox £4k in the bank. depending where you go you also need to have a trade of some sort or at least be able to do a job and support yourself.

Don't forget entrapanuer visas, you need a ton of cash though,

I think you need to set up a business with at least 250K AU$ or employ 5 staff full time to qualify for it. quite a high bar though,

General Question,
Such Job applications are usually limited like "Applicant must be from 20 to 30 yr old"?
If so, do you think it risky to go abroad when he is near the "border age like 29yr old on above case"?
Sciencies course students(or engineers) have advantage than humanitie course students(or office worker) in general?
(I am not thinking of moving though, I'm curious.)
Here in Japan, Job change over 30 is severe except he is super engineer or rich people who starts a new franchise etc.

You want to get a Working Holiday Visa for whatever country youre going to if youre not sure. It allows you to stay within said country for upto a year and also allows you to work, there are varying restrictions.

The NZ VISA costs £45 and last's 12 months from entering the country. You must have proof of a return ticket and/or at least $4200, about £1.5k. Proof does not necessarily mean you have the money though.
