Nintendo DS Lite - Any good?

I have been thinking about getting one of these for the last week or so - but are they any good?

Having had a brief look at the internet, the games seem to look pretty crappy visually. I was wondering if anyone on here has had as a DS and can recommend them?

I will likely buy a DS-Xtreme cartridge to play homebrew and *cough* back-up copies of games as well.

any insights into teh positives and/or negative of the DS Lite very welcome

for the price of a DS lite and an R4DS (the best single slot homebrew *cough* player) its well worth the money.

a lot of the games are crap visually but theres always good gameplay to be had on a ninty handheld

I love my DS - however it has developed a fault (it's not the lite version) where the touch screen won't align - I'm currently battling with Amazon to try and get it replaced - or a full refund. I'm really pee'd off - as it keeps me amused for ages

I recently bought the 48 games in one - which has card/board/darts etc - which is really good - and the graphics aren't too bad at all

I love my DS Lite. It's so funky and i love the way you get two ways to play, both with the conventional controls and the stylus thingy

You can get some really neat games too! They're all unusual and unique to the DS, so you don't get anything quite like it anywhere else

I need to get that new Donkey Kong vs Mario game!

Just picked up one today with Mario Kart DS. Im quite impressed with the quality of the unit - feel very nice to hold.

I have the R4DS and a 1gb Micro SD card on the way so i should be able to play all my "backups" soon.......they are only 80 odd kilobytes each!

My dust cover went missing, so i like it beng in slot 2
Had it ages before these single slot things, turns out the r4 is exactly the same as m3 simply - just repackaged.

Loved being able to play ff3 months before it was released

Can highly reccomend Beup live for ds (msn, brilliant!)

My DS provides hours of entertainment. But whats this R4DS thing all about then? Never heard of it.

R4DS is a backup device. you plug a micro-SD card into it then plug it into the DS game slot. allows you to run homebrew (emulators etc) and has a media player as well. also by way of coincidence it lets you play DS game ROMs.

i quite like trauma centre too but have a hard time trying to stitch people up again

Found the R4DS for £42.99 with a 1gb mem card. That a decent deal? Sounds like the R4DS is a worthwhile thing to have!

I am looking into buying a DS too. I have a PSP and a Wii but love playing on the my niece and nephews DSL. I didnt know you could play copied/downloaded games on them. Looks even more tempting. Are NDS games available for downloading? Does the above cards affect warranty or affect the DS in anyway?

get games from the usual sources.

the R4DS doesnt affect the handheld in anyway.
unplug it and it returns to normal.
