Right ,my dad has said that he is going to get a "good bike" (harly, bmw, triumph) Now then I think that he is a crap rider in terms of his riding skills ( has had his licence for 25+years but only had a few bikes when he was younger then stopped for around 14 years) so my question is, is there some sort of biker training that will get him back in to biking properly and just refresh the skills he should be using on the roads ?(if you know what I mean by that ?)
I wouldn't mind paying for it if it means he is safer with me and him on the bike. (I will get it organised as a birthday pressie or something)

Can any one help me here?

I am in Ireland so cant help with a place but can tell you it is a very good
idea. There are starter courses up to advanced and he wont know what
he is doing wrong until someone tells him and then he will think that
makes sense.
Click on the Paul O'Flynn one. It's funny but fair play to him.
I did a course to get my insurance cost down.
Micheal running after the bike is a good man and sound guy for teaching.

any decent bike school should be able to accommodate your dad, just get him to explain his experience and that he wants to have a refresher sort of thing, i'd expect something like £100 for a day at most..

You can do advanced courses but if your really bad there not going to be impressed..

On thing you could wait till the next bike safe course happens in your area, tis free and apparently very good Thumbs Up

Hubby did a refresher lesson, well worth the £90, just got him a bit of confidence back and highlighted any old bad habits.

As has been said most riding schools do them Thumbs Up

Hi mate,

be carefull ,
I had a mate few years back whose old man wanted to get back to biking..
we decided to give him a blast my cbr6 f as my mate had an R1 at the time and thought it might be too much for the old geezer.

He asked me for some tips and I told him “Just NAIL the f*cker and you’ll be allright”

Anyhow he dropped the clutch, took off and flipped the c*nt, luckily the bike had only cosmetic damage but I had to take silly c*nt down to the local A&E with a broken hand.

Me and my mate were pissing ourselves laughing.

ps. ffc tell ur old man NOT to buy a Harley..

Rock on

What about the IAM?

£85 for their Skills For Life. That includes 1yrs membership, the IAM test fee and as many Observed Runs as necessary to get him to test standard. The only extra is a donation towards the Observers fuel cost's.

I would have a look at this site https://www.bikesafe.co.uk/

9th June I am doing the West mids Bike safe course for £50. My Dad and the guy who lives next door are also doing the course on the same day.

Having read some other reviews I think it will be £50 well spent. Or as suggested in some of the other posts pay for him to do the full blown IAM course.

Good luck.

Jlo
