Is this a good thing or a bad thing? , my office has an enourmous turn over of concierge types and they always mistake me for a courier,

many bike shops do also , must be the NTV and general appearance ,

is this a good or a bad thing?.

Any thoughts?

I always grab an envelope and pretend to be a courier when I pop in to see my hubby at work.

If there's anyone important visiting I can slope off unnoticed.

when you say mistaken for a courier do you mean ordered to do stupid things with your lid and generally looked down upon... if so, you need a shave and a new bike Razz

Try hanging about some hospitals. See if they give you any interesting organs.

Do you ride an Ugly-Pig's-Bitch-Dog Kwak or Suzuki?
Are you a bit dull?
Do you always carry a parcel, clip board and/or a walkie-talkie into your office.
If any of the above applies then I can't blame the guys.

I wouldn't mind myself. At least you get a chance to meet fit young women (briefly) you would never ordinarily get to meet. Embarassed

Or Uglybloke Del Shocked Shocked

That's not dullness - its the equivalent of shellshock for the generally road/controller-rage psyche of the average London courier.

Probably since I have yet to meet a boring courier, I think in biking the more miles you do the more entertaining stories you have to tell and I quite like social gatherings with lots of stories.

Although we haven't managed it here in the North the other groups I've been part of have had plenty of social nights where stories are shared around.

Tom was the resident ex courier guy down in Plym, just going over bits of metal in his body could take all night, almost all of them had a stupid story to go with them , in the style of Richard Pryor.

Russ the guy in OYB in Manchester is an ex dispatcher and its worth going there to buy or something over HG Manchester (its like £1 more for a 4 litre bottle of shell stuff rather than generic Motul oil) , but he'll generally tell a story about anything you buy.

Checkout Sickpup our resident angry London courier and his stories , how many other people can say things like:

"I used to run gold bullion in the city for RBS"

Or

I killed £24,000 worth of Honda bikes in one year.

£28,000.

Also several bags of £500 in £1 coins are great in a top box for pulling wheelies. Wink

Quite agree with that, couriers always seem to have the best stories, purely because of the amount of miles they cover (which makes them a bit mad too Laughing ). Cmon Sickpup, hit us with a few of your golden oldies Mr. Green

It's not an exciting life just different.

I think everyone down south noticed the weather on Friday, it seemed to start about 2pm on my way down to Lancing and continued until I called empty in Cardiff at 1.30am on Saturday morning. 11.5 hours of riding in hellish dangerous weather conditions is not fun. 13 hours working, riding a bike is not fun.

But the pays good.

The main thing I find is that most of the lads get on very well with each
other.I guess most people that get into this job are into bikes first and
we all have that interest.
When I started I would get home and say I was here or there and the
strange things that I would see or I nearly got killed but now it's just
normal.
It can be some crack all the same. Smile

Paddy.

Did a regular drop at one of the bullion warehouses on Tooley St many years ago, just normal stuff for me tho, no gold etc. So one day I'm walking across the car park & some bloke with a forklift is moving a fucking PALLET of gold bars. I casually poke one & say "Whats one of these worth then?"

Only to hear the voice of the security guard right behind me say "About 15 years" Shocked

I probably do in london, something to do with the handlebar muffs cbf600 (easily mistaken for the 5) and the way I ride.
