Hi all,

I have a D900 Orange contract & today when trying to phone out it says 'i'm sorry but calls from this number are barred' i was using it normally 10 minutes before but now can't call out, recieve or text.

Anyone know why this could be? I've been using them for about a month now & just paid my monthly bill.

Cheers. Karma

Most likely it's a cock-up on their end, or your bill payment didn't go through.

I dont think its your phone dude, probably your number hasnt been activated yet.

Take out the sim and try on another phone, if it works it will confirm its the SIM and not the phone. Either way, a phone call should resolved the issue

Turn's out it was a cockup on there part.

& after a week of spending quite a bit of money on faxing & not getting through to Orange, they say i still havn't sent the appropiate I.D i've sent driving licence, both parts, several bills, proof of address etc but they say it's not enougth.
They basically terminated my contract (until they get proof) as someone on there side entered my address wrong meaning they think it's been stolen or used at another address & not the one i specified.
But this still didn't stop them from taking £35 out my bank last month!
So what does a terminated contract mean then? I really don't want to stay with these idiots just for princible of not having a phone for 2 weeks & still paying.

If it is terminated, what happens to all the contract phone etc.

Thumbs Up

How will they do that if they think it's been stolen? Wink But the phone is next to worthless now, as it's been blacklisted. But it will still make some dollar on eBay. But really I'd try and resolve it with them, because of the hassle. Kick up a big fuss and make sure you get a months' free use, as you haven't been able to use it.

So no matter what, the phone can't be used again even with another orange sim?
Not going to be going back with Orange as we spent quite a bit on faxing I.D to them & still being told it's not enough!
Just confused what happens now really, i went through an internet service Butmobilephones.net & with the D900 i got the free Sat Nav & cashback, so wondering if i'll see a letter asking for it all back.

But just to make sure, my contract is terminated so they won't be taking no more direct debits from my bank as Orange isn't showing up on my online banking page so can't manually cancel from there.

Meh, lost my number witht he phone too that i've had for a few years.

You shouldn't have lost the number, you can transfer that when you get a new contract. Ask whoever you speak to if you arrange a new contract about it.

They won't come asking for their sat nav etc. back. That was an offer from the website you bought it from, and Orange already paid them a commission for the sale, so it's nothing to do with them now. What Orange are most likely to do is send you a big fat bill for the remainder of your contract. If it's 12 months at £30 a month, it will be in the region of £330 - 11 months of £30.

What I'd do is wait for that bill to come. Then you call them, ask to speak to someone higher up, and explain the situation. I think someone's just being stupid on the other end of the phone.

If that bill never comes, well you've got a free sat nav system. The phone can be used again, but it will be blacklisted and using it again will involve extensive computer trickery, it's criminal. Best bet is to sell it on eBay if that bill hasn't arrived after a month or 2, you'll still get £30-£40 for it, depending on the value of the phone.

I had already transfered my old number to this new phone (one that's been barred) & spoke to them today & they said i had lost both.
I'm just worried that they're still gonna take £35.00 every month as i can't seem to cancel the debit as it's not showing up on the online banking & all my others do, Ntl, insurance etc.

Just wait & see i spose. Thumbs Up

If the contract has been cancelled by Orange they cannot take the rest of the money, that would be takeing payment for a service they are not going to provide and there is a word for that - Theft.
If the phone has been blacklisted then it'll be no use in this country, however some of the Eastern European countries don't use the blacklist database so you might be able to shift it on Ebay.
In my experience, the financial side of Orange is run by a bunch of clowns. We cancelled our contracts with them ages ago and the phones were disconnected as requested, however they tried to take money off of us for 4 months following and ended up phoning me with a threat to take me to court. I told them to bring it on and pointed out that I had terminated the contract, they then got all arsey and I never heard from them again Very Happy

Oh right, thanks for the clearing that up. Yup, definitely need to sort out there customer service, they was asking me to send proof of my address, i sent nearly everything i could find that was proof inc. driving licence but that still wasn't enough, takes the biscuit.
I'll ring the bank tomorrow just to make sure the direct debit is cancelled & will write a complaint to orange stating how much has been spent on faxing proof through.

I thought it may of been a problom at the start as i could get service & dial numbers, just not get through, then a few days later i couldn't even dial or look through my phone book.

Anywho, i'm going to get a new phone with 02. Smile

Right, phoned them a few days ago & they confirmed the contract was now terminated & the direct debits' have been stopped. I went to get a new phone & a few days later i get an email saying i'm not allowed for whatever reason.
Obviously something to do with Orange but when will it all be sorted as it's obviously not resolved yet.
And how comes i'm getting refused, what's the deal here? Have they put some sort of hold on my account that's stop's me getting another phone until what ever they have to do?

Now i'm stuck with a 3410. Laughing

Cheers.
