Power loss / blank spot

I recently purchased an rs 125 2002 and when shes revs to around 5,000/6,000 rpm she losses power and the bike splutters and feels like it is juttering can anyone help? i have been adviced to get a new spark plug but i doubt that will fix the problem.

a few questions,

is it a restricited or full power rs?

have you had a look at the spark plug? if so what colour is it?

is this accerating hard or gently? have you tried each to see if it makes the problem worse or better?

its a restricted rs 125 the dealer has recently put in a new spark plug. It happens when accelrating moderating gently

how good are your mechanical skills / confidence with a spanner.

If the plug looks ok, then the jetting should be fine, it could be that the needle position needs perfecting.

The exhaust could be coked up.

or the silly thought, you are taking the choke off ? ? or this could be sticking on despite the fact that you have turn the switch/knob/lever to off. I had a similer problem with an SGM engine where i had left the choke on and it would not rev past 8k, took the choke of and 3 laps later it cleared Shocked

I would have alook at the plug and tell us what colour it is or take a photo and post it at the appearance of the plug can tells us alot about what is going on with an engine.

the stutter around 5000-6000 rpm is the restriction on the rs125 to get it through emissions tests. you need do something to your cdi, cut a wire or something cant remember exactly. but theres nothing wrong with your bike its just the restriction. after 6500 it should rev normally to the redline

Thanks for all the help so far , firstly i have never ridden the bike with the choke left on and the spark plug is a white colour made by NGK. Also if i cut this wire on the emissions thing does that make it illegal to ride as a learner rider? Thanks
