Hi all,

I'll be experiencing the delights of a safari holiday this June in Kenya & just hoping for any tips, tricks & advise from anyone who's been previously.

Now I've got the basics covered, Visa, Insurance, Vaccinations (Yellow Fever still to come which I'm really not looking forward to since I'm told even the jab can be fatal in rare cases Confused) & know to only drink bottled water.

It's more a question of things you'd recommend I take with & what to avoid to not spend my time ill in hospital etc?....

Cheers guys! Very Happy

Yellow fever jab is painless like any other. Don't forget to take malaria tablets as prescribed and don't miss any!

I spent the back half of 2001 in Ghana and was lucky not to have any illnesses other than the runs.

Hi

You can buy a blood transfustion and needle medical kit from boots which should something happen and you need treatment you can at least ensure the needles and stuff are clean and are only re-used on you.

also take some tablets to treat the trots and stuff.

And a camera

Regards
charlotte

First off, make sure you see this Wink

Be careful what you try to bring back as a souvenear. Dont buy from market stores that sell stuffed animals / things along those lines. A friend got into serious trouble at customs over somthing simlar (she didnt realise, but she is fairly dopey anyway Very Happy)

and most of all, have a safe trip Thumbs Up

Keep hold of your luggage when you arrive at the airport. Don't let anyone take it off you to "help" you as they will demand money, and in my experience, be holding big knifes.

Don't hang around Nairobi if you can help it, not a nice place.

Safari is fantastic, look out for the hippos! They were my favourite Smile
