With my test in the pipeline, I've been getting excited about what bike I can have. I've always wanted an ER-5 for some reason, I think they are ace (not exactly exciting to some, but I love them).
So when my other half (who works at a bike shop) tells me there's a dark purple ER-5 arrived in the shop, I've been toying with the idea but not seriously.
I just had a call from him, saying someone was about to buy it. So I kinda put a deposit on it. Opps!
I now own two motorbikes, one of which I can't ride yet!
I'm really nervous I might be jumping the gun. |

Hey, you only live once...why not?
I notice you've got a Givi rack on the back for a topbox. When you get your test, get a topbox (if there's not one already) and go tour, get some miles under your belt...you'll love it! ____________________ Dead nobodies in company cars... |

ER5s get a bad rep because they are considered to be 'learner bikes'. But if you ignore that badge then are cracking bikes.
Good choice of colour - same as mine! I cleaned and polished mine last night. Through the dark and dismal winter it looks black, then when the sun comes out the purple shines!
On mine, I've dropped the yokes 5mm on the forks. This has made a massive difference to the handling - I now reguarly scrape toes! The bike turns a lot quicker as a result.
If you haven't already pop over and say hello to some more ER5 owners, they are a good bunch over there.

Nice bike
I bought my bike, THEN decided to book my CBT, then about 3 months later did my DAS
It is hard having it sat there calling to you, but its also a great incentive to pass your test, good luck
Did you have it from BS in Tunstall by any chance |

Nice bike . ER-5's are cracking bikes. It's a pity they are a victim of thier own success. ____________________ Everyone who lives dies, yet not everyone who dies has lived. We take these risks not to escape life, but to prevent life from escaping us. |

Good choice. I sold my ER5 a few weeks ago, had it for about 7 months. Great first 'bigger' bike, very easy to ride. I couldnt fault mine, helped build my confidence....sorry to see it go really, but very pleased with my new bike....SV650.
Have fun on it. |

ER-5 rider here too and I really like it
Im still in the learning stage (under a year on the road) and its very forgiving when making mistakes.
Maintenance is easy. Taking it to bits can be done in no time.
I've done the oil / oil filter / air filter / chain & sproks / fitted an alarm / brake fluid and a few other things myself with ease. Only took a Haynes manual and a bit of patience.
Buying parts is also easy. Ebay is always packed with them, and dealers often have them on the shelf. Most are pretty cheap too |

I was at Silverstone on Tuesday and someone in the Advanced group was hacking it around the track on an ER-5, demolishing all the newbies and intermediates I could catch him up on the straights but he was faster through the corners...
Almost bought an ER-5 but got the Divvy instead. Probably made a bad choice on that one..

Woo, nice ER.
Passed my test on one of them big chunky beasts, so will always have a place in my heart for them.
