Possibly a stupid question but I am aware of the benefits of an induction kit for cars, but is it possible to get them for bikes? Also when your bike has ram air, would there be anymore of a with an induction kit fitted?

Power/Torque is dependant on.

Fuel being converted from liquid to Ooomph.

You need suficient oxygen to make the chemical conversion.

More Fuel needs More air.

This basicly means if you want more power you need to burn more fuel.

Simply firing more air in will not do much good if you do not tune fuel and ignition to suit.

Bigger valves and manifold mods should be considered.
Supercharging
Nitrox Kit.

On ebay

Is there any benefit from taking cold air from the front of the bike into the air filter? Seemed to remember being told colder air is better for the carbs?

To obtain best performance, fuel needs to be burnt at a stoichiometric rato; i.e. the perfect ratio between air and fuel. It's difficult to get it bang on, but very close to 1 is good enough.

Shoving an induction kit without properly tweaking the other parameters will result in a rather lean engine, which can lead to valves burning off and overheating and such issues.

Ram air is essentially charging the air to a pressure that above ambient temperature. Air is being taken in from the atmosphere and pressurised, which itself is an example of air induction. Bike's were designed with the airboxes to suit the required parameters. I personally wouldn't mess with it unless you're willing to properly "tune" your bike and make it less usable for general use.
