Bastard thing.
Took the exhaust system off last night and gave it to my dad to take into work and get one of the guys to take the restrictor ring out. Turns out there is no ring in the entire system. They completely cut the upper section in half and there is nothing there at all.

So how the f*** is this bloody bike restricted? Rolling Eyes Its got no plate on the carb, i've checked for the 'black box' restrictor, i've checked for washers on the throttle slide too...... nothing there.
The only thing left to look at is the power valve / RC valve. How the hell I get to this I dont know, its neatly tucked away behind the frame and if I was to open it, what should I be looking for?

The powervalve servo / pulley thing under the airbox seems to be working fine, in the the arrow on the pulley wheel goes all the way to 'open' or 'closed' depending on the engine revs.

Any ideas on this would be a godsend.

Are you sure the restrictor isn't in there? Should be right near the manifold. When I took my exhaust off I had to clean out the exhaust deposits to see the welds? Confused

Right, i've just found out what the problem was:............... my dad. on the phone he said they cut the entire section in half and there was nothing there. When he brought it home after work, i had a look at it and noticed that the weld marks are in the wrong place! idiots!! they've cut it at the wrong weld!! So out came my hacksaw and i cut it 3/4 way thru in the right place, and the ring is there. Now he's just gotta take it back in tomorrow morning and get it sorted Smile

Panic mode over.
mental note to self: remember to cancel plans to petrol bomb Honda's UK headquarters due to rage.

well i got mines de-restricted now here is the problem they made the cut in the right place (sort of) but they couldnt get the grinder all the way to the restriction ring they had to 'cut it' out could this be why im only still getting only 8500r in 6th gear?...or is this possibly another restriction like the cdi unit?

coz im just trying to figure out if they did a proper job or not

Does the bike creep up to 8500rpm, or does it fly up there and then stop like its hit a wall? if its the first, you probably have another physical restriction (carb plate or something) and if it is hitting 8500 like its on a limiter, then its probably the CDI or 'black box'. Where is the bike from?
