Stubby'ing my exhaust

now then, my exhaust has a dint on the inside, and its about the perfect distance so i can still stubbie my exhaust.

i need a little advice on what to expect when doing this, ive never done it before but i have a fair idea.

I have access to most tools, welder, rivvet gun, big hammers and a fould mouth.

its an Art can, with rivveted bands, now as far as i know, i can Cut it were i want it, then remove the end cap (lower one) with the band, drill and place back on?
Reason for Cutting it first would be so i dont have to remove the band at the top (port end) of my exhaust to take the baffles out too cut.

if im not making much sence, please scrap that and give me a new plan off attack.

you've described exactly how it's done mate, drill the rivets out (or pop them out) remove the bands, cut the exhaust as appropriate, then re-rivet the bands back on.

when u remove the bottom bands, does the baffle slide out, or are they still attached to the top ones?
Would it be best, just to undo the rivvets, take out the endcap, then cut it all as one thing, stainless cover and internal baffles all in one go?

Also, will a Pop rivvet gun do it?

yeh when I undid the band furthest away from the mouth the whole sleeve + wadding came away from the baffle tube. the baffle tube should be welded just to just one end of the exhaust.

then cut your sleeve to the right length, then cut the end off the baffle tube so it fits as close as possible to the other end.

no, I just cut the carbon fibre improperly, which means the sleeves slightly wonky lol.

and no, I won't clean it

well done mine today, didnt have any problems apart from hassle getting the end cap back on, had to do some reshaping to get it to go in.

apart from that it all went smoothly, its not As short as id like it, i think it just looks long because its crome.
