This July 22nd I will be setting off from Hyde Park in London for the 3rd Annual Mongol Rally I will be riding the Classic Honda c90 approximately 8000 miles from London to Ulaan Bataar in Mongolia I will be the first ever and only motorcycle entrant to be attempting this grueling journey for the chance to raise money for several worthy charities
Send a Cow. Provides a fascinating approach to helping poor families in Africa

CNCF. A truly inspirational Mongolian Children’s Charity

Mercy Corps. This is an amazing charity taking a careful and effective approach to helping the poor in rural Mongolia

Wildlife CRU. Their approach not only benefits the endangered and little studied species but the local economy and community as well.

CAMDA. Bringing veterinary aid to thousands of horses in 2 Northern provinces. 29,000 horses were given life-enhancing inoculations in 2004 and in 2005 and it is being extended to a third. In 2006 they aim to reach more than 45,000 horses in these 3 areas.

I hope to achieve £8000 for my gruelling journey a mere £1 for every mile to help the above charities

First of all many thanks for everybodys support and emails i finally arrived in Mongolia on the 25th August after five hard weeks riding, from blowing the engine in Germany, getting knocked into a field in Poland, almost mugged in the Ukraine, awaking to a snake in Kazakhstan struggling through miles or dirt track at 50 degrees to freezing my balls off in Siberia i loved every minute and have already started planning to take a different route next year using the Honda Monkey bike a truly fantastic adventure with the best result of helping the street children of Mongolia

Hello all I need your help one more if you can spare a minute

Yes so soon I know! This year 2 of us (depending on sponsorship) will be attempting to ride to Mongolia from London once more but this time on the super enduro Gorilla bike, Once again to support the Christina Noble Children's Foundation

So please if anybody could spare the price of a pint and donate £2 towards reaching our target and helping these children I have set up a secure donation page once more through the justgiving site at https://www.justgiving.com/mongolmonkey

Cheers Wayne

I know this is a bit shallow for me to say but every time I see someone doing something like this (charity runs), all I can think is that they are doing this to get freebies and a holiday for free and the charity is a by-product... A bit like the Long Way Round with the BMW bikes and the snap-on tools. I know Charlie Borman even said during filming in the preparation stages that the only reason he was doing the trip was to get freebies.

I think if you want to tour, at least do it of your own back.

If you think this is a walk in the park your tripping fella what Ewan and Charlie did was totally different they had support crew with them slept in hotels tents and everything was donated due to the television coverage and publicity etc. For the average Joe doing this they arn't so fast in coming forward to help, everything that was donated to me last year was given to charity, what was left at the end my bike was buggered but still was given up for auction as will be the bikes this year first aid kits and anything else that can be sold to help these kids was donated on completion I slept in garage forecourts after spending all my money in Germany replacing the engine got knoocked off in Poland lost my job and paid for 100% of the entire journey I arn't asking for any freebies as whatever I get is given away Im not in it for freebies. i'm in the rally to help some 500 homeless children stay alive this winter and if thats shallow then so be it; if you think this is a nice steady drive you are more than welcome to come for a total eye opener I nearly died last year several times but after witnessing how the money raised was helping these children I didnt have to think twice and doing the rally on a monkey bike must sound like a bit easy to you to begrudge £2 not to me but the CNCF https://www.justgiving.com/mongolmonkey LOOK AND SEE!

If you call arriving home to no Job £23 in the bank and only the clothes I was wearing on my back a holiday then ok I've even had to remortgage my house to do this in July and only asking you help the kids not me

I could see what R4nger was getting at, a lot of these charity tours you see advertised seem to be an excuse for a free trip while raising some money for charity as a by-product. While charity is benefitting you can't help but feel part of your money is going on this guy's personal tour, while you pay for your own.

Though here obviously, Fatty B is the genuine article. Thumbs Up
