im 6'4" and currently interested in getting myself a 125 and the bike that has taken my fancy is the Honda NSR 125, i did a little research and found out that the seat height is only 800mm (31.5 inches)

when i sit on my friends trial bike that is 860mm (34 inches) my feet r firmly on the ground, so im wondering does that 6cm make a big difference? is there any way i can adjust the seat height or is the nsr (and any sports 125) just not for the taller man?

An old nsr might be your best bet, I had a 1992 nsr125 and I was fine on that (I'm 6'1") I'm not sure how tall the newer ones are, even though you just said how tall they are, I don't have a tape measure handy!

Saying that though, the vfr400 I have now is shorter and maybe I'm just flexible but it doesn't bother me at all! Could (and do) ride it for hours!

My bike (a gz125...crappy cruiser thingy) has a seat high of 680mm...roughly 27inch.

I'm 6'3" and yes i dwarf it.....but it doesn't get uncomfortable and i can ride it for hours on end (doing 400+ miles yesterday in the lakes says a lot doesn't it Very Happy )

My mate started on a hona NSF (or R cant remember) and he's six foot six. Only problem was that he might have looked a little ridiculous.

Do whatever makes you happy mate!

well im only goin to use it for commuting and maybe the odd bike trip with some mates, my main concerns are
A) having my feet bumping of the ground
B) looking stupid on a small bike

but i think the rs125 is roughly the same size as the nsr125 so if u pulled it off being 6'6" it shudnt be too much of an issue

Your feet shouldnt bump off the ground so long as ya keep 'em on the pegs Wink

As for looking stupid i wouldn't worry, as long as you're having fun Very Happy you wont look as silly as the wanker in the chavved up corsa sat next to you at the lights.

im 6"3 and ride a yamaha SR 125 Thumbs Up
it may look like im riding a mini moto but im not Laughing

i wouldn't worry too much about height for your first bike.

as long as you can control it, thats the main thing.

don't worry too much about looks until you pass your test

is it a sports style bike that your after? if not there are plenty of other options for taller people. eg Honda Varadero, Yamaha TDR, Honda XR

good luck with finding one Thumbs Up

Those would be the ones I would advise. The varadero would hide your size fairly well as I know looks are important. ( l always look in shop windows when stood at the lights just to see how cool I think I look )

The NSR is fairly room in it's riding position if required.

However I'd agree with those suggesting a 2 stroke trail style bike.

Gosh I have the opposite problem, i'm 5'8 but. i've got even shorter legs than my 5'6 wife. (my colleague reckons i've a form of dwarfism, the cxnt)

I'm okay with the ER5 to flat foot both feet, but on my Z i've got a low seat and i'm on the balls of my feet or just one foot down.

The one good thing about being shorter is that I can easily tuck in behind my screen which 2 of my mates can't.

My mate "Big Chris" is 6'7" and used to ride a Honda C90 to work every day. In fact, we once both went out on it (I'm 6'1"). He also used to go for ride outs on a tiny little RD250 and a CB400 super 4.

He has a Triumph Tiger now, which is certainly more 'him' but you'll find you can probably manage almost any bke.

Just so you get an idea how big he is, the bike he's sat on here is a KLR650, that's a 21" front wheel (he used to wear that mask under his helmet sometimes to freak people out):

you will be fine, the only thing is if you dare to use it on a dual carriage way and try to stay tucked in for some time it gets uncomfortable.

Have a look at my pic on the left, one NSR one 6'4@ chap. so you know roughly what you would look like.

I ran a CG125 for two years and I'm 6'4. Standards like the CG allow you to pick your own seating position rather than dictating where you have to sit on the bike.

I've now gotten a bike with an even lower seat but still a bench type seat so I am just sat further back on her.
