hi all

long time no chat!

neways! i got my DAS test next tuesday, and im buying my new bike early!

im thinking of getting this gsxr 400 1989 with 20.000 odd miles!

£850! i thinks thats about right! ?>??>>?>>?>>?> what you think???? and they wanted £900!

its GOT 1 years mot but no tax! and he says its got a new front tyre. + a new 2 tone paint job (orange/yellow)

im going to go look at it tomorrow morning, so the question is what should i be looking out for apart from brakes, tyres and sprockets!??????

please help as i dont wana get ripped off!

yer i think thats about the going rate of a decent 400 gixxer

parkers doesnt list the gskr400 only 600 and above!

cheers anyways though





any advice on what i need to look for?????????

yer i thought of that stinkwheel! im going to go over it with a fine toothcomb! problem is im not a machanic so im just going to go by instinct!
this is why i asked is there anything i should look at thats maybe a common fault with this bike etc!

The things to watch out for is obscenely rich mixture and the fork seals, which can be a particular problem on the gk67a.

The over-fuelling issues are well documented on the greybikesforum, so I won't go into a massive spiel here.

yup. if they're coated in soot, expect that you'll need to rebuild the carbs.

Apart from that, they're fucking awesome bikes; they go like a rocket and you can throw it around corners as tight as you like.

Make sure you've got some good rubber, though.

thats what i like to hear!
i was going to go for a 600 but i think im better off going with a fast cheep 400 to start with, just in case Wink !
the bloke whos selling it says it had a full carb rebuild and rebalance 6 months ago but if i do buy it i think i will put it in a garage and get it a full service anyways just to be safe!
