I play for a football team called Horley elite fc, and the website has been terrible all season so I was asked to see if I could make it better for next season. The guy has given me all the server info, password and stuff. But my god its so confusing because im not exactly a whiz with computers but i would be able to design the site and get it how i want it, but i need help firstly finding out how i can get my design ( i havent made one yet) onto the internet at the correct address, and also what software to use. I only have microsoft publisher, that would be ok right? i can publish a website onto the internet using microsoft publisher? can i? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Publisher sucks. I am a (semi) professional web designer for my own company, I could get the website online for you (for free of course) have a look around www.dotcomwebdesign.com and find a template you like. This is a CMS system, it allows you to update the website with NO special software. I will edit the template however you want, add stuff like members pages, an email form etc.

Like I said, if you would like to take me up on this I'd be glad to help, normally I'd charge £150 or so (ok, I don't use templates on proper jobs Very Happy)

Im sure you will find a design you like!

[edit] Pick one from page 7, they're the best! Your only looking at colours/layout (mainly layout) I will change all the pictures for you

I have attached a picture of the CMS i use in one of my sites, you just type in a username and password and you can edit the site on-line!

Like i said, just find a template on that site (pref page 7)

CMS Stands for content management system

This isnt going to be easy......

As far as getting it onto the internet, all you need to do is upload your final design to the directory stored on the web server for that site. The default path is C:\Inetpub\wwwroot. There will probably be a few folders if the server has more than one website, but you can check which one is for which folder by going into Admin Tools\Internet Information Services and checking the properties of the web site(s).

NSR, what was the name of the template you liked?

I'm presuming you only have FTP access to the server?

You don't edit the website on your computer, you edit it once i've put it online. Its a lot easier than joomla/mambo.

If you're after something ridiculously simple there's no harm in checking out Google's page creator.

I'm not sure if you can sync it up with a domain but you can always forward one.

Result: Failed validation, 60 errors

Take a look. Might want to sort that if you plan on charging £150. Wink

Used to belong to me, let it expire a while back.
I have several domains. It's a compulsive thing.
