On my journey from Leicester to London and back in not too good conditions, i was thinking do tyres wear out less when there is water on the road?? Also on long haul journeys I usually carry a bike first aid kit(for humans ) on me, now in some countries i.e.; Germany this is compulsory.
Do you think this should be the case here in the UK? Personally I think it should. The Hein Gericke one is the size of half a sheet of A4 and bulk is pretty much non existent, i know for a major accident it would be pretty useless but for everything else
I'm sure there will be differing opinions, please discuss! ____________________ https://www.facebook.com/p/Francis-Lloyd_Cummings/630915297

If you make people carry first aid kits you would also need to make training part of the driving test or they could do more harm than good.
I wouldn't fancy some do-gooder moving me if I had spinal injuries because they wanted to put me in the recovery position. etc. ____________________ My Flickr |

I wouldn't fancy someone sort of randomly draping me with gauze and bandage tape, either. ____________________ the warped one: This is a follow up from the thread 'my willy hurts' |

I trust medics and the ST John's ambulance guys, but I don't know if you could put that sort of trust into a randomer. To be stereotypical, but could you imagine some 17 y/o's taking it seriously anyway? ____________________ My Flickr |

In theory i guess because they are running much cooler, but everyone rides slower in the wet so that skews the results. You would need to test at exactly the same speeds and loads in wet and dry.
and the point about the first aid kits is a good idea in theory, but in practice i'm not sure if it could work. ____________________ My Flickr |

hmmm I would have thought some tyre company would have tested it out. But on the first aid kit issue, surely if you had a wound gushing blood and you have a kit on you surely its common sense to whip out the absorbable bandage and apply pressure to the wound? Or am i overestimating the capabilities of some folk? ____________________ https://www.facebook.com/p/Francis-Lloyd_Cummings/630915297

less friction on the road with wet tyres hence less grip = less tyre wear in the wet ____________________ parting the A1 like moses parted the red sea |

I think a course on first aid specifcally for motorcycle accident victims at the roadside, should be incorporated into the test. It does scare me a bit that I someday may need the knowledge that can keep somebody alive until an ambulance arrived, and wont be able to do anything about it resulting in an unecessary death ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |
