I need to build my own website (or find someone willing to do it for me). I'm good with image editing but all this flash stuff is beyond me, I think I've been out of IT for too long, websites used to be so simple!

What I'm asking is, what is a good, not too expensive program to use? I'd like to build the website myself, and I do pick up programs reasonably quickly, I'm just not sure what to try. Alternatively I wouldn't mind paying someone, but I don't want to spend a fortune on a website that might get me nowhere. Help!

Is this for your modelling stuff?
Don't use flash if that is the case, you want people to be able to link to your images, don't you? Smile
If it's for any type of showcase then it's well worth paying a bit of money to get a professional web designer in. Presentation is everything, after all.

https://www.coffeecup.com/ is a good program, alternatively you can PM me and I will put you in contact with my father who is fairly adept at creating and managing websites for individuals and small organisations.

I wouldn't use Flash for anything unless you NEED the functionality it offers.

It's worth looking at opensource CMS systems which let you use various templates and layouts. It's worth having a look at https://wwwopensourcecms.com/ and playing with a few.

However, these CMS systems usually require a webserver with PHP, Perl or similar installer and a database (usually MySQL) for them to function.

Flash if overated , its almost always for website intros

you put a website intro you lose ALOT of your audience and anybody
who does become a loyal user just saves the book mark on the page
AFTER the flash intro.

It should also load in less than 3 seconds there was a survey and it
said any website that takes longer than 4 seconds is instantly dismissed
forever.
