There are loads of tyres on the market - most of us will have different pre-conceptions about tyre manufacturers. Maybe you always use a certain make, or just like the brand image!!

So as the poll says, what tyre manufacturers 'impress' you or make you want to try their tyres, and why would you choose them?

Well i am due another rear within the next 100 miles (even though its sort of illegal now Shocked )

I had a pirelli mt75......but i didn't have much faith in it when 'pushing' my bike hard (ok, all laugh its only a 125 cruiser but i managed to suprise some people in the corners Razz )

Anyone know if anyone makes a 120/80 16 (i believe its an /80 anyway)..i know a 130/70 16 fits.

Does anyone know if anyone makes a 'decent' tyre..ie more grip in dry, while still being good in the wet?

The pirelli was fairly good in the wet...so if i can't find a better tyre then i guess its another pirelli for me.

Oh yeah..my solid plasti 'kenda' front tyre has outlasted 2 rears (15.5k miles Shocked Very Happy )..it still has atleast another 2000 miles on it!!!!!

I just can't get away from Bridgestone... I had the 010's then the 012's followed by the 002 road race tyres. The later where fantastic when it came to smiles per mile... Laughing Mr. Green Thumbs Up

After my first trackday....

Hi

To be honest, have used most things. I don't seem to get on with Dunlops generally. Had no problems with Bridgestones except the price. But have used Michelin and Avons a fair few times without issues. Just put some Contis on the Bandit so will see how good they are.

Think only Pirelli (of the large makes) still make them. A 120/90 is more common. 120/80 16 was used on loads of 80s Italian 125s. Metzler ME22 tyre in that size was pretty good, but I don't think it is available anymore. Dunlop Arrowmax (original equipment on early Aprilia AF1s using a 120/80 16 rear tyre) were frighteningly bad in the wet.

All the best

Keith

Ran Metzlers on my first bike (poop touring tyre) before switching to Avon Azaro's. Found them to be great.

Done the Dunlop thing, D207's and 08's but was not impressed. Won't be getting them again. Found in anything other than really warm days they didn't grip and didn't inspire.

Had a quick spell with Metzlers M1's (the ones with hardly any tread) shweeit hot for grip but didn't last.

New bike came with brand new Avon Azaros and even in tonights wet run they felt really good. Going to try Pirelli Supercorsas next cuz I keep hearing good things about them.

Think the people who say good things about them are the ones who don't ride in the rain.

Well, possibly! My Avons done me proud tonight in the rain. Can't really complain too much. First time I've ridden in the wet for nearly 2 years! Surprised

Not sure it is in that size.

However a random search for tyres for a Gilera KK125 (used a 120/80 16 rear) gave this:-

https://www.metzelermoto.com/en_86/tires/template_categorie.jhtml?catid=86COMM&productid=21749&sku_id_rear=1660400&sku_id_front=1659700

All the best

Kickstart let us know how it works out with the continental's.I have not
been able to get them for years and they are back again but I found
them great years ago.

I don't think there is one on the poll that has not got a good tyre and also
a bad one that I would not take for free.
I will have to see what is available and might even be second hand.

Paddy.

Another vote for Dunlop qualifiers. Good wet grip and very stable - inspires confidence. Should see about 4000 from the rear of one.

Which Dunlop.

I have to say they all make good and bad tyres so saying just the name
is not good enough.010 GOOD 020 CRAP.Pilot road is not the best on
the frontand OK on the back.
If you get what I am trying to say.

They are on about Dunlop Qualifiers, which are a specific tyre, not just a generalisation.

I'll be sticking with the Metzler Tourances that came with the Bimler. They've been good enough so far under all conditions to not make it really neccessary to faff about trying any alternatives.

Same with the XT really, the Avon Distanzias currently on it being perfect for how I use it. Plus they should last longer than previous road-based tyres.

I've got a bridgestone front, supercorsa rear at the moment.

The supercorsa is absolutely shocking in the wet, I swear I went most of the way home sideways last night.

Still, I'm fitting them all round in the coming weeks.

BT-45's rawk!

Cracking day to day tyre. Smile

I used to use nothing but Bridgestones, BT-35's, BT-45s, BT-96's, on bikes like the SRX400, Katana 400, Goose and even a GSX1100F...

It all stopped when I was converting the XT to 17" rims. Did you know a 150 section BT-090 is a whole 10mm wider than a 150 section Dunlop GPR70? Doesn't sound like much, but when you're trying to pack a wide tyre into a swinging arm that's in no way designed for it, every mm counts, so bye bye Bridgestones.. Sad

Continental Road Attack,

Great tyres, i get about 5000 out of a rear, and they suit my riding style fine. Also great in torrential rain.

what about continental? , road attacks etc,

that said I'm a Bridgestone man, I've eaten 2 sets of Bt45s in a year , and will probably go for BT20s when the contis wear out on the CBR
