i was looking at the reviews of the nsr and gpr 125's on the MCN website and it kinda put me off the nsr, it got 2 stars out of five and the reviewers said it was very uncomfortable, had poor handling and is very difficult to derestrict.

The Derbi GPR got 5 stars, but it is 3600 quid brand new :S
Can anyone who has owned/had a go on an NSR let me know if the review is right, and if it really is a piece of shite

My NSR has been nothing but great so far.

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikereviews/searchresults/Bike-Reviews/Honda/Honda-NSR125RR-1996-2001/?&R=EPI-326

is the review... thought it was a bit dodgy because other reviews have said 9/10 out of 10.

Pretty much sums it up. They want it to be a CBR125 so much they don't even give it a chance. All they really do is compare a 2-stroke to a 4-stroke and then say how much more reliable the 4-stroke is.

Doesnt matter to them how much better looking the NSR is, or how much quicker it is. If your willing to put the effort in maintaining it, I'd say the NSR is a much better bike. Of course, since I have one, I'm kind of bias Wink

Also, I just checked out the RS125 review which mentions all of its 2-strokey goodness but skips over its reliability issues (which is worse than the NSR). Odd.

an nsr f00l, its exactly how a 2 stroke 125 should be, loud and quick Razz

They aren't wrong about it getting uncomfortable, lights being bad, u-turns being impossible.

But compared to the 4 stroke 125s I've ridden, the nsr has been much more comfortable, and much much faster.

It isn't as hard to de-restrict as they claim, I managed it so Razz

get one, take care of it, you'll love it Wink

The NSR is a good, solid 2-stroke whereas the GPR is made of plastic! Mr. Green

They really don't know what they're talking about in this case.

Model history is wrong, not aware it's much less reliable when derestricted and it's pretty good on reliability if you keep it well looked after.

I'll agree with the piss poor lights and the difficult U-turns, but I've been on some long rides and had no issues with comfort.

I don't have any issues on the bike, apart from bad pins and needles in my left arm frequently. But when I get off my bike after a very long ride my legs ache so badly, its not uncommon for me to get off and nearly fall over Wink I personally think I'm a little too big for the bike, but finding it hard to convince myself to sell it for another bike Wink

Go with what you really want. I'm sure the NSR has a much better reliability record than the Aprilia.
