would describe where I live now as a sleepy little village, unfortunately because of that, there is little to do for some of the sheltered little fresh out of school kids around here, who insist on driving around the village at 1am in the morning, tyre screeching and redlining engines that are already loud enough thanks to cheap exhaust systems

the main culprit is the same guy, he has a mini, its bloody loud, wherever he is in the vicinity of the village i can hear him

last night i had enough, i was just drifting off about midnight after his first 'session' and then he came past again, so i got in my car and went looking for him, parked up at a crossroads, and as he came past i followed him, he pulled down a side road and did a U turn in front of me, so i blocked the road with my car, jumped out and started towards him, he didnt hang around and sped off in the other direction

one of his crew came up the road behind me, so i flagged them down and asked if they knew the guy in the mini, they denied it and said they were from high wycombe Rolling Eyes

i drove off to look for him again, then went and parked in the village hall car park, which tends to be where they park up, play music, and rev engines between driving around

before long, after the twat had gathered himself, he pulls into the car park with his corsa crew in tow, and came over to see me (funny how you will never get them on their own if they can help it), i put it to him that what he was doing was unacceptable, and that after 11pm i expect him to desist, and if he did not i would take it further and there would be consequences one way or the other for his lack of respect for other people

he is about 5ft nothing, scrawny little 17 year old in my estimation, who has nothing else to do with his evenings other than to scream around his village, clearly hasnt bought a map to find his way out where real roads actually exist

despite all this still went on to threaten me, that if anything happens to his car there will be trouble, dropped some random names about boxing champions with no ears, which of course will come and get me etc etc, he doesnt give a shit basically about anything else, and seems to think he has every right to be having a laugh as he pays his road tax Laughing (his words)

from a personal point of view when i was really into late night riding etc, i always went off a decent distance from home hunting out the good roads, and if i passed through a village, it would be only once

Arrow firstly i'd like to know what the legal standpoint is, with residents having a "right to quiet" after a certain time, surely along the same lines as the highway code doesnt permit the use of a horn between 11pm and 7am, is it enforceable is there anything than can be done through official channels, that would make it undesirable for him to continue, i'm sure i cant be the only one who gets pissed off with it, but perhaps the only one who has been bothered to confront him

Arrow if any of you were in a similar position what would you do?

i dont really want to get into criminal damage, threatening violence etc as we both live in the same village, and im not into that anyway, but if i have to disable his car in order that i can get some sleep then that is what i will do

Well here's the thing Goose.

You could call the police when it happens and they might send someone over to sort it. However you can't forget that you are into bikes and might one day want a loud bike again.

My suggestion would be to confront them again, and take an OS map and show them where all the twisty roads are. If they are truly into cars then they will want to find somewhere to drive. If they are just a bunch of tarts, then they won't like the idea.

I can't really suggest anything else as it is a little hypocritical of us noisy bikers to moan about engine noise late at night as so many of our number do it. If he were on a bike would you have done the same thing?

I suppose what I'm saying is, Can you really make the distinction between loud bikes on twisty roads, and loud cars in a village?

The other option is just to get a load of BCF people to turn up at their 'Cruize' spot regularly and just look intimidating. If they are 17 and weedy, they'll all disappear after a while.

Go and do the same as he's doing outside his parents house. They should get the idea.

I feel your pain.

Living on a main road in Reading is doing my tits in. The drone of the cars is far worse than bikes in my opinion.

I might have a race can on my bike but I am considerate at unsocial hours (not using choke and not warming it up before leaving early in the morning etc) and I expect everyone else to be. If they aren't and you have the opportunity, do what you need to. Thumbs Up

Having said that, the most annoying vehicle that passes down our road is a 2 stroke bike. What a fucking din.

You could probably get him an ASBO if you really wanted to................................

They way I see it, it's not the noise that's the problem it's the fact it's at inapproriate times/places.

It's probably better if you try and talk to him on his own and treat him like an adult even if he isn't acting like one. That way he won't try and show off in front of his crew. I'm sure he'll be pretty reasonable about it.

You could just punch him in the face next time you see him. His threats were do with if anything happens to his car, not him. Thumbs Up Twisted Evil

I doubt the police will be at all interested, you know what they're like. I'd report it to the council, noise pollution etc. They'll make you keep a log of when it happens I expect, so you may as well start now. Maybe you can get him an ASBO or they might warn him about noise pollution.

There's no way you can compare chav cars to loud bikes.
Firstly, if a bike goes past your house you don't hear it for long. If a shitty chav car with a fart pipe on it goes past your house, you'll hear it for the next five miles. Secondly, even if it is a loud noise it's not the same as a fart piped car. The ones round here literally shake our windows.

Also they take the corner out of the estate at about 40, when it's only just wide enough for one car. One of these days they're going to kill one of the bikers who live round here.

They're fucking wankers too, drive dangerously, under the influence all the time and obviously violent (when all twenty of them are in the back of the car, that is).

I'm going to lay spike strips out on the road from 2am to 4am, they're the only ones out at that time anyway.

Bastards.

Follow him or find out where he lives, chances are its still with mummy & daddy Rolling Eyes so have a polite word with them about his attitude and behaviour, stating your next step is to get the Police involved. Might be worth taking some video footage as evidence as well.

I don't think he's suggesting these kids are being annoying just because what they're doing is illegal; but because it's a generally antisocial thing to do.

While a wheelie in an empty industrial estate next to a busy main-line railway may be of questionable legality, I don't think he'd have any reason to worry that it may be depriving people of sleep Smile.

A bike can be just as annoying as far as noise goes and in some cases worse. But of course in both cases it depends more on the person controlling it.

It's just the fact he went after them that makes me laugh.

What if it was a bunch of kids on rs125's and other 2 stroke bikes.

They are annoying as hell at night you can here them miles off.

Goose seems like a guy who likes to have fun, but yet he is talking about ruining all these kids have to do.

Being a light sleeper, I also get annoyed with people being annoyingly loud at night.

If the kids find it fun doing what they are doing rather than finding it fun knowing they annoy poeple, would they find it any less fun if they had consideration for others?

They probably wouldn't have been happy if goose had taken his bike exhaust off and wheelied past their houses soon after whenever they had gone to bed.

Generally I'd say you can't hear 2 strokes from as far as a 4 stroke which has a similar engine configuration/exhaust.

Jesus...

You're practically condoning their actions. Rolling Eyes

If it was boys on their 2 strokes/4 strokes/bikes, I would have done the same thing. Reason for living in a small sleepy village is that it's quiet. If they are consistently going up and down the road at night, just to make noise then he has every right to try and stop them.

McGee, I guess you'd just sit there and take it? Question

The point is that its late at night and its a village, meaning there must be roads leading out of the village, and they must know they are pissing people off.

I'm a 2smoker Shifty but wouldn't dream of obsessively pissing anyone by going through a small sleepy village screaming the nuts off Tut Tut I knock into a higher gear, and cruise through. Sounds to me like they've nowt else to do and do it that late cos they have the roads to themselves meaning loads more fun. You've warned him, next time it happens put some screws and nails behind his wheels on his drive Thumbs Up

Two points:

First of all I did warn you about living in the centre of Reading...

Secondly Shifty When I get my RGV rebuilt I know what route to take to work! Wink

Lesson learnt there.

To be honest, it wouldn't be so bad if I closed my window at night but then I wouldn't be able to hear any folks tinkering with my bike. Nae win situation!

Well having lived in london all my life traffic noise has blended in with the background, having moved out to the suburbs for uni now when i hear a bike in the distance caning it or passing me i think

"Go on my son, be safe and have a good one" usually followed by a grin Smile

I do think "what a wanker" when you hear a 1.2 corsa with a fuckoff exhaust, i suppose double standards...

Either way it does take the piss if hes literally going from one end of your street to the end, turning around and doing it again all night long... A couple of times i could put up with...

You got a bike just challenge him to a race, he obviously fancies himself as the next Schumacher, if you win he fucks off and finds some new roads, if he wins you fuckoff and go back to the old peoples home Smile

EDIT:

BTW if someone followed me on a late night blast and blocked me in somehow then ran at me... Well lets just say i hope they got a good dentist /keyboard warrior.

How did you expect him to react when you have done that?
