Hey peeps!
I'm really interested in training to become a race marshall but what's involved and where do I start?
Can you be specifically bikes or just track racing in general?
Any advice welcome! ____________________ Bikes are an addiction for which there's no rehab!! |

i think your first step would be to not write in blue! ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

i thought it was a link.
i think the best way to go about marshaling a race is to talk to the people that run them, maybe shadow other marshalls so you can see how they do it. theres probably a training course or something as long as you talk to the right people. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. I'm almost certain you need to be ST John's Ambulance trained, they may even do special courses. That's about all I could tell you though. ____________________ My Flickr |

Thanks very much for that Big_Ham!
Just looked on the St. Johns website and they do a course specifically for motorcyclists so if you're right I'll be doing that at the end of June. Will probably be worth doing it anyway!
Anyone else with useful info? ____________________ Bikes are an addiction for which there's no rehab!! |

Because by writing in blue you are annoying the people that may want to help you?
There is many reason I post on here rather than myspace, that is one of them .
Get along to any Bemsee meet and you can start being a marshal with no specific training I believe. While it may seem to be 'jumping in at the deep end', you will be placed under the control of experienced marshals and should be given appropriate safety briefings etc.
Generally marshals aren't expected to offer any first aid unless it's something really obvious - ie bloody gushing out, but that shouldn't happen too often with leathers - a medic can generally get to most cases within a minute or two I'd say if needed. |
