Well today didn't exactly go as planned. I got up to the runway and all was well, got scrutineered, filled with the most expensive fuel you can imagine (£95 for 5 US gallons).

Set off from the start-line, spu the wheel up instantly, same in 2nd, and 3rd. No-where near full throttle. Got into 4th seemed to be holding-back, turbo comes in and lights up the rear again, same for 5th and it's holding back more then spinning. Christ knows what's going on so 6th gear I hold it steady and drive to the line, but it start to spin up again so I shut it down, ease on the brakes and bang I'm down before I know it. Went through the traps at just over 130mph, start to tumble, got my arms in and waited for the world to stop spinning. I'm up on my feet in a flash and waving to the finish-line crew to say I'm all right.

Gets over to the bike and I pick it up. No fluids leaking which is a blessing coz they won't have to close the course. Bike won't roll, I think the engine has seized so I leave it on the stand and wait for the recovery.

Turns out the front brakes are seized on solid. These were freshly stripped and rebuilt calipers, fully bled with new oil and working perfectly. Only thing I didn't strip was the emaster-cylinder (why would you) but now the whole system is pressurised and the lever is solid. 5 of us pick the bike up and carry it into the van. 15 minutes later the lever has lost all it's pressure and the brakes are working normally, as if nothing is happened. Looks like I have a fault in the Master cylinder, but there's no way of knowing it until the bike's ridden in anger. Anyway it's going straight in the bin and I need new fairings, leathers , lid and exhaust pipe for my turboi bike, oh and I have suspected busted scaphoid in my wrist.

On the up-side the bike still runs well, turbo system looks to be undamaged apart from the dump pipe and I'm still alive Very Happy

In hindsight what I thought was a loss of power turned out to be the brake binding, holding it back causing a big load on the engine, making the turbo spool hard and over-power the brakes. Something had to give eventually I suppose Smile

The joys of not having to contend with street furniture and other vehicles!

Glad you are ok, looks like the bike is in a slightly sorrier state.

jammy git Thumbs Up did you put the brakes back together wrong? Razz

TBH, i would have abandoned the run when it lit the rear up, but i guess you're used to that hapening. Good luck next time, you reckon you can get it over 230mph?

Kickstart's wife Charlotte was at the finish-line taking photos, but didn't get any of me as I had passed her by the time I went down. I I told her to be sure an dpoint the camera in the right direction next time and she said "You should have crashed sooner" Very Happy

Yep next meeting I'll be there. Should have some kind of boost control and up to 500hp next round. 400hp in 1st gear is not easy to control Smile

Thumbs Down Shitter mate, to get your best finally finished being built and to chuck it down a drag strip is just pure crap luck.

Hope you get the bike repaired soonish and for less money than you hope! Good luck rebuilding the front brakes Thumbs Up

Hell that is some speed to go sliding down the track.
It's good to hear you walked away alright and you didn't bend the crank
or anything.
Do you think the brakes might have heated up to fast and caused the
presure to build up and then lock up. Question

Paddy.
