I've heard this does the trick for cleaning your chain but where can I aquire this substance?
I know I shouldn't but I used to use a WD'd40 cloth and wipe the chain (slaps myself on wrist).
Where do I go and what does it come in? Do I just ask at my local DIY store "I want 20 Parrafins please!"
Possible silly question buy meh! ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Just buy some parasene from Homebase. Most readily available I've found since there is a homebase on every corner.
Or you'll find some paraffin in petrol stations.
Personally, I can't be dicked with the mess anymore so use wd40 and toothbrush. |

New C&S so don't want to fecker them. Think I'll also get one of those Loobmans too. Quite small and cheap, easy to use.
You still got the 6R? ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Yeah, for now.
The Loobman I bought through the bcf group purchase got binned after 30 minutes of fiddling about with it. I thought it was pretty useless. |

I get mine from a place called No Frills, similar to Homebase. It just comes in big bottle (mines 5 litres) like this:
https://www.bulkbagman.co.uk/images/products/keybond.jpg
Some places might sell it in 1-2 litre bottles though. Cost me £3-4 for 5 litres
White Spirit is a good degreaser - although people on here usually don't use it (can't remember why though, hopefully someone will clarify). |

Easy enough to just damp a cloth and wipe the chain?
Does it work well for grimey wheels too? WD40 done a good job of my wheels before. ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Don't go to your big DIY superstore's as it is a rip off. Like FreshAL said it sells in there for £4.99 for 5 litres.
What you want to do is go to a local traditional style hardware shop. A lot of them sell paraffin 'loose' and you can buy as much or as little as you want. Generally speaking it is a lot cheaper than the DIY superstores and the place I go it is getting on for half of the price.
All you need to take is something suitable for them to put the paraffin into. An old plastic paraffin container is ideal but you can also get them to fill a plastic petrol can or anything else along the same lines. Don't ask them to fill something like an empty 2l coke bottle - thats just taking the mickey. ____________________ Yamaha YZF-R6 |

Can you use the stuff to de-grease other parts? I'm mainly thinking the wheels, shock, swingarm. All the stuff thats going to get muck and grime thrown all over it. ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

The local Tesco petrol station sells it very cheaply (though when I asked, they didn't know they sold it - fortunately I spotted a few 5L bottles stood outside on my way back out). Can't be a big seller. ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

Another one for diesel, it's great for any de-greasing and I use it on my O ring chain, it's still fine.
Only a like 97p a litre for diesel too. ____________________ My Flickr |
